According to the company information, Underground Pharma has been in operation for 10 years providing prohormone supplements, testosterone boosters, and various other bodybuilder supplements to customers in the USA and across the world. This sounds impressive, but there is zero information about the company and the supplements do not seem very easy to obtain.
Underground Pharma Surge is a supplement that you take before bedtime to boost growth hormone levels, and thus improve muscle building and recovery, but there is no evidence that it will work as described. It is made in the USA according to the label but mainly sold in the UK and Europe, but with many retailers on eBay and Amazon currently out of stock, it does not seem easy to get hold of.
That said, this probably does not make much difference as there is very little customer feedback, so this supplement is obviously unpopular. This is not surprising because it looks pretty useless and ineffective, so it is hard to think of a reason to actually buy it.
There is a warning printed on the label that advises customers that side effects may include rapid heartbeat, dizziness, headache, difficulty in breathing, and stomach discomfort.
You are also warned to avoid alcohol and prescription stimulants, and not to exceed the recommended dose because doing this may cause serious adverse effects. You are advised to immediately discontinue use and call a physician if you experience side effects
According to the Underground Pharma website, 1 x bottle of Surge (90 capsules) costs $49.00. This is sufficient for one month’s supply.
It is possible that this price will vary depending on who is selling it, so you may be able to shop around, that is if you can actually find it on the market.
We do not rate Underground Pharma Surge very highly. This supplement will not work in the way as described and in our opinion, you have zero chance of improving your levels of growth hormone by taking it. We have some real concerns about the quality of this supplement. The sales page is badly written and hard to understand, and there is zero feedback, guarantee, or any contact details about Underground Pharma. Even the company’s Facebook page is non-operational and fails to provide one scrap of information about the location. It is good that the supplements are marked “made in the USA”, but when it comes down to it, this is only a label and may not even be true.
Even if this were a reputable company, it is impossible that this supplement would work as described. The ingredients Arginine and GABA may help produce Growth Hormone, but are in insignificant or unknown quantities so we can’t see either of these doing much here.
Overall this seems to be a poorly produced substandard supplement from an unknown source, and we would not approve such an inferior product. We do not recommend Underground Pharma Surge to the Watchdog readers.
Underground Pharma Surge is a bodybuilder supplement, described as a growth hormone booster, recovery accelerator, and as an aid to building lean muscle mass.
It contains a blend of herbal extracts and amino acids plus zinc gluconate, and the first thing you notice is that this supplement does not contain HGH as the label suggests. Instead, the idea is that your body will start manufacturing HGH fuelled by the contents of the supplement. Check out the ingredients list to find out more.
Human Growth Hormone (HGH), also known as Growth Hormone or Youth Hormone, is made naturally in the body by the pituitary gland. This protein molecule is composed of 191 amino acids, and it stimulates cell growth and regeneration.
The body uses growth hormone mainly throughout puberty in order for the body to develop and as we get older, the natural levels decrease simply because we cannot continue to grow at the same rate as we did as teenagers. That said, throughout life we still use HGH and it helps the body regulate body composition, the metabolism, and muscle and bone growth. Levels can be affected by diet and lifestyle with exercise very important for increasing HGH naturally.
HGH can also be manufactured synthetically. The best-known version is as a prescription drug called Somatropin, which is used to treat growth disorders. However, HGH is also obtainable as an illegal bodybuilding drug which is popular because it is so effective for building muscle.
Many bodybuilders search it out to use along with anabolic steroids. It is also marketed as a way to prevent muscle deterioration and to look and feel younger. There are major risks with taking HGH and it is very expensive. In some cases, it can be administered by injection but more usually it comes in supplement form sold covertly via the internet. Make no mistake; this whole area can be extremely dangerous and risky to health.
Underground Pharma Surge contains ingredients that are supposed to increase the body’s natural supplies of HGH, without any risks to health or any dangers of breaking the law or testing positive for doping. So, this supplement does not contain synthetic HGH and may be pretty safe by comparison. Source
Underground Pharma appears to be a little-known company. The official website does not provide any information such as an address and although the supplements are apparently manufactured in Texas, that is really as close as we get to a geographic location.
You are invited to contact the company to become a reseller of Underground Pharma products, but this hasn’t caused products to become widely available. We guess that this brand is not very popular with online traders for some reason, although it looks no better or no worse than many on the market.
You cannot buy directly from the official Underground Pharma site. The few outlets we found, including Amazon UK and eBay, were currently out of stock. We checked out the official Underground Pharma Facebook page and found no posts and only 51 followers. One thing is certain. This is not a major operation even if it does claim to offer supplements worldwide.
According to the advertising, this supplement is,
“The revolutionary compound created specially for the strengthening of growth hormone secretion, improve recovery and increase of rock-solid muscles.”
The benefits of Growth Hormone are explained,
“Growth hormone…., also known as HGH (Human Growth Hormone) is among the strongest anabolic hormones in the body that are secreted. It is helpful in growth, helps build muscles, burn body fat, helps to improve the vitality of the skin, bones, joints, hair, improves immunity, cognitive functions and in the US is also called “eternal youth hormone”.
The advertising explains how this supplement is safe and effective,
“The company Underground Pharma bet on the careful selection of the components that represent the strongest representatives in influencing the growth hormone. Important in this composition is proper dosing and synergistic balance. Using the product SURGE you do not risk the complications of high dose growth hormone.
Because this process is fully under the control of your body and it is eliminated just enough racial hormone, how much will not be harmful to your health.”
It seems likely that whoever wrote the product description did not have English as a first language.
We can see no reason why this supplement should cause an increase in growth hormone. Although it contains the amino acid L Arginine which research suggests does have this effect, all clinical testing looked at way higher serving sizes (between 10g – 30g a day) and even then exercise was found to be more effective.
GABA can be effective too but research suggests that the effects are short-lived and it does require more investigation regarding dosage.
Many of the other ingredients such as amino acid – Tryptophan, and herbal extracts – Mucuna pruriens and Cordyceps, are more usually taken to improve mood and may help cause feelings of well-being, but again, ingredient quantities are questionable here.
Valerian is an effective (although unproven) herbal remedy for insomnia, so is more likely to make you feel sleepy than anything else. This, of course, may aid recovery after exercise if you find that a good night’s sleep is a problem.
Overall, there is not much here that is likely to help you build muscle or increase your growth hormone levels.
According to experts, the best way to increase growth hormone is to take part in exercise, stop drinking alcohol, reduce sugar, and lose belly fat. Other research suggests that intermittent fasting can be effective.
There is a warning printed on the label. According to this, potential side effects may include:
Not suitable for individuals under 18. Avoid if you are pregnant or breast feeding. Avoid alcohol and prescription stimulants while taking this product. Exceeding recommended dose will not improve results and may cause serious adverse effects. Immediately discontinue use and call a physician if you experience side effects.
We searched but could only find one customer review for this supplement. This was posted on eBay UK and was left by an unverified buyer who wrote,
I can recommend. I take 3 in the morning as a prescription. I combine it with creatine phx. In the monster boost like a dragon, the definition of muscle goes up.
There is no money-back guarantee for Underground Pharma Surge.
Despite being an American supplement, Underground Pharma Surge seems to be more easily available in the UK and Europe. We have seen it on sale via eBay and Amazon UK, but it does not seem to show up in US searches.
You may find it on sale from one of the smaller independent supplement retailers online, but you cannot buy it directly from the official Underground Pharma website. The company’s Facebook page does not appear to be operational.
