Sparta Nutrition HydraShred Overview

What You Need To Know About Sparta Nutrition HydraShred

The supplement is available in numerous fruity flavours such as guava and dragon fruit.

What Are The Side Effects Of Sparta Nutrition HydraShred?

There are numerous side effects that could be caused by the ingredients found in this supplement.

There are numerous stimulant ingredients in this supplement, including four ingredients that contain naturally occurring caffeine, two types of caffeine, theobromine and theacrine. The dosages are not particularly high, but side effects such as headaches, jitteriness, insomnia, an increased heart rate, heart palpitations, increased urination, dehydration, and increased blood pressure could develop.

For a more detailed list, click on the Side Effects Tab.

How Much Does Sparta Nutrition HydraShred Cost?

Sparta Nutrition HydraShred can be purchased from the official Sparta Nutrition website, where a tub costs $49.99 plus delivery charges.

The product is also available on Amazon where a tub costs $49.99. At the time of writing, a 10% off coupon was being offered.

Each tub contains 60 scoops worth of the powder; if you find that you need to take the higher daily serving of two scoops to notice benefits, this supplement works out quite expensive to use in the long term.

Our Verdict On Sparta Nutrition HydraShred

We are not very impressed by Sparta Nutrition HydraShred. There are numerous ingredients in this supplement that are under-researched in humans, having only been studied in rats. Other than that, the supplement relies upon carnitine (which does not aid weight loss in the majority of the population), caffeine, and mild stimulants that will overall have little impact upon weight loss.

The product is not covered by a money-back guarantee, and the returns policy is one of the most restrictive policies we have ever seen. Store credit, minus a restocking fee, is all that customers can expect to receive, if they return their product within the short 14-day returns window. The product is also expensive, and there are negative customer reviews about several of the flavours available, making it a risky first-time purchase.

Overall, we do not recommend Sparta Nutrition HydraShred to our readers.

What Does Sparta Nutrition HydraShred Claim To Do?

Sparta Nutrition describes HydraShred as a lipolytic fat burning supplement, designed to boost the consumer’s metabolic rate, suppress the appetite and maximise weight loss results. Consumers are also told to expect increased energy levels and improved mental focus.

Does Sparta Nutrition HydraShred Work?

The two forms of carnitine in this supplement could aid recovery after a workout, but the clinical support for them aiding weight loss is lacking. Garcinia has mixed results at best, and one study even suggested that it inhibited weight loss compared with a control group. Green tea and the many other sources of caffeine could have a very small but positive impact upon weight loss; the total amount of caffeine comes to around 100 mg, which is about the amount found in a large coffee. The other stimulants in this supplement, theobromine and theacrine, are mild compared to caffeine, and their impact will be even smaller.

There are some ingredients in this supplement that are under-researched in humans, but do seem to aid weight loss in rats. However, this does not mean that they will aid weight loss for you, as human and rat physiology and biology are obviously very different.

What Are The Ingredients of Sparta Nutrition HydraShred?

The ingredients found in Sparta Nutrition HydraShred are detailed below. The ingredient quantities provided are per serving of a single scoop, but consumers can take up to two scoops per day.

  • L-Carnitine Tartrate 1000mg: One study found that supplementation of L-carnitine, L-tartrate reduced muscle tissue damage from exercise and sped up recovery time. Source
  • Acetyl-L-Carnitine 250mg: There is some evidence that supplementation of acetyl-l-carnitine can reduce body fat, although the strongest results were seen in the elderly. The ingredient also boosts energy levels, and is used to treat fatigue. Source
  • Garcinia Cambogia Extract (60% Hydroxycitric acid) (fruit) 125mg: Test tube and animal research suggest that HCA, an active compound in Garcinia Cambogia, may aid weight loss. However, numerous studies in humans have found it has no effect upon either appetite or metabolic rate. Source
  • Green Tea Leaf Extract (50% Caffeine) 100mg: Green tea is high in a group of antioxidants called catechins. Studies have suggested that catechins, especially EGCG, increase thermogenesis in the body, whilst naturally occurring caffeine increases energy expenditure by boosting the metabolism slightly for a few hours. Source
  • TeaCrine (Tasteless 40%) (Theacrine) 75mg: TeaCrine is a branded form of Theacrine. It appears to work in a similar way to caffeine. Early research suggests that it may help to boost mental and physical performance (like caffeine), but more research is needed. Source
  • Vanillin 50mg: Vanillin is the part of vanilla that gives it its smell, and it is possible that it is present to mask the smell/taste of unpleasant tasting and bitter ingredients. Some claim that the using Vanilla in aromatherapy (smelling vanilla) can suppress the appetite, but we haven’t seen any convincing evidence of this. In fact, some studies have found that sweet smells including vanilla increase the appetite. Source
  • Banaba Leaf Extract (10% Corsolic Acid) 30mg: This plant extract may help to lower blood sugar levels. Source
  • Grains of Paradise (15% 6-Paradol) 25mg: Also known as Paradoxine, this herb comes from the same family as ginger. Grains of Paradise have shown some potential for causing weight loss by increasing energy expenditure. However, the trial was incredibly small, and the doses used in the study were not published. Source
  • Caffeine Anhydrous 25mg: Numerous studies have shown that caffeine boosts energy levels and alertness, as well as mildly boosting the metabolism, causing a small increase in the number of calories used by the body. The effects shown in studies are small, and some studies are inconclusive. Source
  • Theobromine 99% 25mg: Theobromine is a mild stimulant that is similar to caffeine, but it appears to be much milder than caffeine. It is typically extracted from cocoa seed. Source
  • Dicaffeine Malate 25mg: Another source of caffeine. See above.
  • Yerba Mate 10% caffeine 25mg: A plant that is typically brewed as a tea, yerba mate is a natural source of caffeine, as well as numerous bioactives and anti-oxidants. Source
  • Guarana Seed Extract 22% 25mg: A berry that is naturally high in caffeine, it is often an ingredient in energy drinks and diet pills. Source
  • Green Coffee Bean Extract 25mg: The main clinical research linking this ingredient with significant weight loss has been discredited as it was fraudulent. Currently, there is no evidence that it aids with weight loss more than any other source of caffeine. Source
  • Cirsium Oligophyllum 25mg: An edible thistle that has only been tested on rats, not humans. It is often claimed that it will help lose subcutaneous fat. Apparently, when it was combined with caffeine the rats lost even more weight. There is zero evidence that it will do any of this for humans, and there is also a lack of research into the safety of this ingredient. Source
  • Cocoa Seed Extract (20% N-Coumaroyldopamine) 10mg: N-Coumaroyldopamine is thought to increase cAMP levels. Some studies have found associations between raised cAMP levels and stronger heart muscle contractions, relaxed arteries, increased insulin secretion, and increased lipolysis (fat breakdown). Source

Does Sparta Nutrition HydraShred Have Any Side Effects?

There are numerous ingredients found in Sparta Nutrition HydraShred that could potentially cause a range of side effects.

L-Carnitine can cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, heartburn, diarrhoea, and seizures. It can also cause the urine, breath, and sweat to have a “fishy” odour.

There are numerous ingredients in this supplement that naturally contain caffeine, including green tea, green coffee bean, yerba mate, and guarana. Two forms of caffeine (caffeine anhydrous and dicaffeine malate) are also included in this formula, meaning that the total amount of caffeine in Sparta Nutrition HydraShred is at least 102.5 mg per scoop. This is about the same amount found in a large coffee. High doses of caffeine can cause headaches, jitteriness, insomnia, an increased heart rate, heart palpitations, increased urination, dehydration, and increased blood pressure. Green tea can also cause constipation.

Banaba can also lower blood sugar levels. Cirsium Oligophyllum can cause flatulence.

There is an amino acid in Green Coffee Bean called homocysteine that is associated with an increased risk of heart disease.

Garcinia Cambogia can cause some side effects including nausea, digestive tract discomfort, and headache. Its long-term safety is unknown, as clinical studies typically focus on short-term use of up to 12 weeks.

Not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Not suitable for anyone under the age of 18. Do not consume caffeine from other sources including but not limited to, coffee, tea, soda, and other dietary supplements or medications containing caffeine. HydraShred contains caffeine. Are There Any Customer Reviews For Sparta Nutrition HydraShred?

There are some customer reviews for Sparta Nutrition HydraShred on the official sales page, as well as on Amazon. Reviews mostly focus upon the various flavours, rather than the effectiveness of the supplement.

Took it for two days, and for whatever reason I felt it made working out harder. Strange. It also didn’t agree with my stomach. Guess this product is not for me.

The low rating is mostly due to the taste. This only tastes like coffee if you make your coffee with lemonade and instant grounds. It’s pretty bad.

That being said, after 1 month of choking this down twice a day I lost 5 lbs without really making any other significant changes. I still get strong urges to nap and snack but I definitely eat less overall. I plan to buy a different flavor after this one is gone.

Does Sparta Nutrition HydraShred Offer a Money-Back Guarantee?

Sparta Nutrition does not offer a money-back guarantee, and their returns policy is incredibly restricted.

International shoppers are not entitled to any returns and “all sales are final”.

Domestic shoppers are offered a slightly better deal; they can return “most products” that are unopened and within 14 days of delivery. However, customers will be given store credit only, and cannot get an actual refund. All returned items are also subject to a 15% re-stocking fee.

Where Can I Buy Sparta Nutrition HydraShred?

Sparta Nutrition HydraShred can be purchased from the official Sparta Nutrition website, where a tub costs $49.99 plus delivery charges.
