Sparta Nutrition HydraShred Black Overview

What You Need To Know About Sparta Nutrition HydraShred Black

Sparta Nutrition HydraShred Black is a slightly modified version of HydraShred, another supplement from the Sparta Nutrition range of supplements. It is designed as a thermogenic fat burner and appetite suppressant that will also provide the consumer with a significant and sustained energy boost. The product is in capsule form, and consumers are instructed to take up to six capsules per day! It features a high dosage of caffeine, as well as a variety of other stimulant ingredients.

What Are The Side Effects Of Sparta Nutrition HydraShred Black?

There are numerous side effects that could be caused by the ingredients found in HydraShred Black.

There are numerous stimulant ingredients in this supplement including two types of caffeine, higenamine, theobromine and theacrine. Depending on the number of capsules taken per day, the quantities range from low to exceptionally high. Side effects such as headaches, jitteriness, insomnia, an increased heart rate, heart palpitations, increased urination, dehydration, and increased blood pressure could develop.

For a more detailed list of the side effects that could be caused by the ingredients in this supplement, click on the Side Effects Tab.

How Much Does Sparta Nutrition HydraShred Black Cost?

Sparta Nutrition HydraShred Black can be purchased from the official Sparta Nutrition website, where a tub costs $34.99 plus delivery charges.

Each bottle contains 90 capsules; if taking the maximum daily dosage of six capsules, a single bottle will only last for 15 days of use, making the product incredibly expensive. If you find that you only need a smaller dosage to feel the effects (which is likely if you are not a caffeine hard nut), then a bottle will last for longer and represents better value for money.

Our Verdict On Sparta Nutrition HydraShred Black

Sparta Nutrition HydraShred Black does contain some ingredients that could help to accelerate the consumer’s rate of weight loss, but the product definitely has issues.

There are numerous ingredients in this supplement that are under-researched in humans, having only been studied in rats; for example, Higenamine is understudied, not just for effectiveness, but also safety in humans! The supplement relies upon a high dose of caffeine; a daily serving of six capsules contains a huge 500 mg of caffeine! This amount of caffeine is likely to cause side effects, especially considering that there are also numerous other stimulant ingredients used.

The product is not covered by a money-back guarantee, and the returns policy is one of the most restrictive policies we have ever seen. Store credit, minus a restocking fee, is all that customers can expect to receive, if they return their product within the short 14-day returns window. The product is also expensive, especially if you find that you need to take the high daily dose to notice the benefits. The supplement contains so much caffeine and other stimulants that we advise consumers to start at a low daily dosage and test their tolerance to the supplement.

Overall, we do not recommend Sparta Nutrition HydraShred Black to our readers.

What Does Sparta Nutrition HydraShred Black Claim To Do?

Sparta Nutrition describes HydraShred Black as a premium “ultra-strength lipolytic fat burner” that will increase thermogenesis in the body, and boost the metabolism. They state that it offers the consumer a sustained, potent energy boost, as well as blood sugar support and appetite suppression.

Does Sparta Nutrition HydraShred Black Work?

Sparta Nutrition claims that they do not rely solely on insane doses of caffeine; the key word here is “solely”. The maximum daily recommended serving of six capsules contains a whopping 500 mg of caffeine from two different sources, as well as three other stimulant ingredients, theobromine, higenamine, and theacrine. Whilst these ingredient quantities are likely to get weight loss results, they are also likely to cause a range of side effects.

Some of the ingredients in this supplement, such as Higenamine, are untested in humans for safety or their ability to aid weight loss. Cirsium Oligophyllum and Grains of Paradise are also under-researched in humans, but do seem to aid weight loss in rats. However, this does not mean that they will aid weight loss for you, as human and rat physiology and biology are obviously very different.

What Are The Ingredients of Sparta Nutrition HydraShred Black?

The ingredients found in Sparta Nutrition HydraShred Black are detailed below. The ingredient quantities listed are per serving of three capsules and consumers can take up to six capsules per day.

  • Acetyl-L-Carnitine 500 mg: There is some evidence that supplementation of acetyl-l-carnitine can reduce body fat, although the strongest results were seen in the elderly. The ingredient also boosts energy levels, and is used to treat fatigue. Source
  • Caffeine Anhydrous 200 mg: Numerous studies have shown that caffeine boosts energy levels and alertness, as well as mildly boosting the metabolism, causing a small increase in the number of calories used by the body. The effects shown in studies are small, and some studies are inconclusive. This product uses a massive dose of caffeine that is likely to cause side effects. Source
  • Phenylethylamine HCl 150 mg: More commonly known as PEA, this ingredient is derived from the amino acid phenylalanine. It is thought to increase alertness, improve concentration/focus, and may also enhance mood. Source
  • Vanillin 100 mg: Vanillin is the part of vanilla that gives it its smell, and it is possible that it is present to mask the smell/taste of unpleasant tasting and bitter ingredients. Some claim that the using Vanilla in aromatherapy (smelling vanilla) can suppress the appetite, but we haven’t seen any convincing evidence of this. In fact, some studies have found that sweet smells including vanilla increase the appetite. Source
  • TeaCrine (Tasteless 40% (Theacrine) 75 mg: TeaCrine is a branded form of Theacrine. It appears to work in a similar way to caffeine. Early research suggests that it may help to boost mental and physical performance (like caffeine), but a little more research is needed to confirm this effect. Source
  • Banaba Leaf Extract (2% Corsolic Acid) 60 mg: This plant extract may help to lower blood sugar levels. Source
  • Grains of Paradise (15% 6-Paradol) 50 mg: Also known as Paradoxine, this herb comes from the same family as ginger. Grains of Paradise have shown some potential for causing weight loss by increasing energy expenditure. However, the trial was incredibly small, and the doses used in the study were not published. Source
  • Theobromine 50 mg: Theobromine is a mild stimulant that is similar to caffeine, but it appears to be much milder than caffeine. It is typically extracted from cocoa seed. Source
  • Dicaffeine Malate 50 mg: Another form of caffeine. See above.
  • Cirsium Oligophyllum 50 mg: An edible thistle that has only been tested on rats, not humans. It is often claimed that it will help lose subcutaneous fat. Apparently, when it was combined with caffeine the rats lost even more weight. There is zero evidence that it will do any of this for humans, and there is also a lack of research into the safety of this ingredient. Source
  • Cocoa Seed Extract (20% N-Coumaroyldopamine) 25 mg: N-Coumaroyldopamine is thought to increase cAMP levels. Some studies have found associations between raised cAMP levels and stronger heart muscle contractions, relaxed arteries, increased insulin secretion, and increased lipolysis (fat breakdown). Source
  • Higenamine HCl 25 mg: This chemical compound can be extracted from various plants. It has only been tested in vitro and in animals, so its effects in humans are totally unknown. However, these non-human studies have indicated that it may aid athletic performance as a stimulant. Source

Does Sparta Nutrition HydraShred Black Have Any Side Effects?

There are numerous ingredients found in Sparta Nutrition HydraShred Black that could potentially cause a range of side effects.

L-Carnitine can cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, heartburn, diarrhoea, and seizures. It can also cause the urine, breath, and sweat to have a “fishy” odour.

High doses of caffeine can cause headaches, jitteriness, insomnia, an increased heart rate, heart palpitations, increased urination, dehydration, and increased blood pressure.

Banaba can also lower blood sugar levels. Cirsium Oligophyllum can cause flatulence.

Because Higenamine has been untested in humans, potential side effects are largely unknown, and so it is considered potentially unsafe for use. One of the plants that it could be extracted from, Aconite, has been shown to cause serious heart-related side effects including arrhythmias and even death. It is unclear what compounds in this plant cause these side effects, and so it is possible that Higenamine does play a role in these side effects.

Caution:

Are There Any Customer Reviews For Sparta Nutrition HydraShred Black?

There are lots of customer reviews for this supplement on the Sparta Nutrition sales page. Unfortunately, it seems that they are not to be trusted; most of the reviews refer to the great flavours of the product, but this product is in capsule form and is not flavoured. They have seemingly been copied over from the reviews of the sister product, HydraShred.

We were unable to locate any independent customer reviews for this supplement.

Does Sparta Nutrition HydraShred Black Offer a Money-Back Guarantee?

Sparta Nutrition does not offer a money-back guarantee, and their returns policy is incredibly restricted.

International shoppers are not entitled to any returns and “all sales are final”.

Domestic shoppers are offered a slightly better deal; they can return “most products” that are unopened and within 14 days of delivery. However, customers will be given store credit only, and cannot get an actual refund. All returned items are also subject to a 15% re-stocking fee. Customers also need to obtain delivery confirmation from the delivery service they use, or else risk not even being given store credit.

Where Can I Buy Sparta Nutrition HydraShred Black?

Sparta Nutrition HydraShred Black can be purchased from the official Sparta Nutrition website, where a tub costs $34.99 plus delivery charges.

The product is also available from Amazon, where a single bottle costs $32.99 plus delivery charges. At the time of writing, there was also a 10% off coupon available.
