What You Need To Know About Pre-Kaged Pre Workout Powder

Pre-Kaged Pre Workout Powder is a pre-workout supplement that promises to help to “boost your energy, strength and endurance so you can train harder and for longer”. It also contains ingredients such as L-Citrulline “for increased vascular blood flow and powerful muscle pumps”. A single serving of the supplement contains a significant amount of caffeine (274 mg). The supplement comes in two flavours, Fruit Punch, and Krisp Apple. Customer reviews suggest that they are both very sweet tasting.

What Are The Side Effects Of Pre-Kaged Pre Workout Powder?

Many of the ingredients found in Pre-Kaged Pre Workout Powder could potentially cause a range of side effects. The most common side effects experienced by reviewers appear to be caffeine related, as each scoop contains 274 mg of caffeine, which is a high dosage to have at once.

Side effects of caffeine can include headaches, increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, heart palpitations, increased urination, dehydration, jitteriness, dizziness, and insomnia.

The most common side effect of Beta Alanine is a tingling sensation in the muscles; many consider this a sign that the Beta-alanine is working, and as evidence that the supplement is indeed correctly dosed. Some people may dislike the tingling sensation, but it is not a sign of anything negative or more serious. Flushing is also a side effect caused by taking high doses of Beta alanine.

Side effects associated with BCAA (Valine, Isoleucine, and Leucine) are rare and are usually not serious. They can include nausea, pain, and headaches. BCAA can affect blood sugar levels, and so diabetics should consult their doctor before taking this supplement.

L-Citrulline can cause an upset stomach in some people, but this is less likely if taken on an empty stomach.

Although Tyrosine is tolerated generally in very high doses, it can cause some side effects including nausea, headache, fatigue, heartburn, and joint pain.

How Much Does Pre-Kaged Pre Workout Powder Cost?

Our Verdict On Pre-Kaged Pre Workout Powder

The majority of the ingredients found in Pre-Kaged Pre Workout Powder appear to be well-dosed and effective at supporting various elements of exercise. However, the product does appear to over-rely upon caffeine, and also features a very high dose of vitamin B6 and vitamin B12.

Numerous customers report experiencing side effects whilst taking this supplement. Numerous people report various stomach upsets and digestive complaints, and it appears to be quite common to need to visit the bathroom within the first half an hour of taking this supplement. The caffeine content is very high per serving, which could cause issues for some.

The flavours appear to have divided customers, with some people detesting the sweet flavours, whilst others like it or can tolerate it.

The product is covered by a money-back guarantee that lasts for 30 days after purchase.

Overall, we do not recommend Pre-Kaged Pre Workout Powder to our readers.

Does Pre-Kaged Pre Workout Powder Work?

L-Citrulline supplementation could help to improve blood flow to the muscles, and increase the “pump” effect during exercise (where muscles look pumped up and inflated due to use and increased blood flow).

Beta alanine will maximise the consumer’s performance in the gym, especially if they are concentrating on muscle building exercises. By being able to work harder, consumers will be able to build more muscle overall.

Caffeine will cause a boost in energy levels, but this could be relatively short lived, and numerous customers have reported experiencing crashes in energy levels a few hours after taking this product. The caffeine level in this supplement is high, and consumers should take their personal caffeine tolerance into consideration when looking at this supplement. Some customers find that half a scoop is enough for them.

What Are The Ingredients of Pre-Kaged Pre Workout Powder?

The ingredients found in Pre-Kaged Pre Workout Powder are detailed below. The ingredient quantities listed are per serving of one scoop (31 grams).

  • Niacin (as Niacinamide) 30 mg (150% RDA)
  • Vitamin B6 (as Pyridoxine Hydrochloride) 25 mg (1,250% RDA)
  • Vitamin B12 (as Methylcobalamin) 500 mcg (8,330% RDA)

PRO-PUMP™

  • L-Citrulline (fermented) 6.5 g: L-Citrulline is thought to increase l-arginine levels in the body, which in turn widens the blood vessels and increases blood flow to the muscles. Source
  • QU995™ (Quercetin Anhydrous) 200 mg: Known for AMPK activation, quercetin has antioxidant and anti-carcinogenic properties, and may reduce stress induced by exercise. It tends not to produce dramatic or consistent effects when tested on humans when compared to in-vitro tests, and in any case, the dosage used in this product is far too low to be effective. Source

MUSCLE FUEL MATRIX (3.5g)

  • L-Leucine (fermented) 1,750 mg: An essential branched chain amino acid which stimulates protein synthesis in the body, and is used as a building block for muscle. Whilst dieting, supplementing Leucine could help to maintain muscle mass whilst still losing fat mass, as it is used to help fuel muscle.
  • L-Isoleucine (fermented) 875 mg: Isoleucine appears to promote glucose consumption and uptake. It also plays a role in inducing muscle protein synthesis (although it is not as strong as Leucine). Source
  • L-Valine (fermented) 875 mg: Valine appears to be the least potent of the branched chain amino acids, but will still play a small role in stimulating protein synthesis and promoting glucose consumption and uptake. This is reflected in the dosage ratio of Boom Supplements BCAA capsules, where Valine is present in a smaller quantity than Leucine and Isoleucine. Source

ANABOLIC-ACTIVATOR

  • L-Leucine (fermented) 3 g: See above.

STRENGTH & POWER MATRIX

  • Carnosyn® (Beta-Alanine) 1.6 g: Beta alanine has been repeatedly proven to raise the levels of muscle carnosine in the human body, which has the effect of increasing the amount of work athletes can perform in high-intensity workouts. Its use is accompanied by a distinctive “tingling” sensation in the muscles. Source
  • BetaPower® (Natural Betaine) 2 g: Betaine can help relieve conditions associated with hardening in the arteries. Although it is thought by some to improve athletic performance, scientific trials have failed to show consistent results with trained/untrained men. Source
  • Patented Creatine HCl 1.5 g

HYDRATE & DEFEND

  • Coconut Water Powder 500mg: Coconut water is found inside young or green coconuts. It is a good source of electrolytes, which is useful for staying hydrated after exercise, especially in hot environments.
  • SPECTRA™ Total ORAC Blend 100mg (Consisting of green coffee extract, green tea extract, broccoli sprout concentrate, onion extract, apple extract, acerola extract, camu camu concentrate, quercetin, tomato concentrate, broccoli concentrate, acai concentrate, basil concentrate, cinnamon concentrate, garlic concentrate, oregano concentrate, turmeric extract, carrot concentrate, elderberry concentrate, mangosteen concentrate, blackberry concentrate, blackcurrant extract, blueberry extract, chokeberry concentrate, raspberry concentrate, sweet cherry concentrate, spinach concentrate, kale concentrate, bilberry extract, brussel sprout concentrate): Spectra is advertised as a full-spectrum antioxidant activity product. A single clinical study suggests that supplementation of Spectra Total Orac may help to “stimulate antioxidant activity and boost nitric oxide production in the human body”. Source

NEURO-FOCUS MATRIX

  • Taurine 2 g: Taurine is an amino acid that helps to build protein. It is not often known why it is so frequently added to energy drinks, although some claim that it helps improve athletic and mental performance. Source
  • N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine 1 g: An amino acid that is a building block of protein, this ingredient is found naturally in many foods including meat and dairy products. Some people use it as an appetite suppressant, but there is little evidence that it is effective for this use. Large doses of tyrosine may be useful for increasing alertness, especially in people who are sleep deprived. Source
  • L-Tyrosine 850 mg: Another form of Tyrosine. See above.
  • PurCaf™ Caffeine (from green coffee beans) 274 mg: Numerous studies have shown that caffeine boosts energy levels and alertness, as well as mildly boosting the metabolism. The effects shown in studies are small, and some studies are inconclusive. Source

Are There Any Customer Reviews For Pre-Kaged Pre Workout Powder?

There are thousands of customer reviews for Pre-Kaged Pre Workout Powder. The product is generally highly rated but there are lots of reports of side effects occurring; even the most positive reviews often state that the product has a laxative effect. Customers are also divided over the flavour options – some love the taste whilst others hate it.

I am not able to take the whole scoop because it makes my heart beat so fast. Even when it wears off, I have trouble sleeping at night. I take half a scoop or a little less. Taste isn’t horrible. Not delicious by any means either. But it feels like mostly caffeine. Makes me wake up and go to the gym to burn it. But not necessarily lift anymore then I would without it.

Too sweet but a great pre-workout. However, I cannot take it bc it has SO much B12. It gave me irregular heart beats. My B12 was off the handle on my blood test. It has 8000+% so this isn’t shocking as I eat a healthy B12-rich diet. Did you know it was possible to get too much B12? This also caused acne, another B12 overload symptom. I have to change 🙁 I wish they’d remove the B12 or at least lower it to a reasonable level so I could continue taking this. I like Kaged products.

this stuff definitely gets the job done, work out wise. better than many mixes i’ve tried you’ll want to take this 40 minutes before your workout in order to use the toilet at home; yep, your gut won’t like this stuff. the apple flavor is ridiculously intense. i’m drinking it for a good workout, not to have a party in my mouth. why do the manufactures try to make these things taste so good? nobody enjoys drinking it anyways.

Been taking NO x-plode for the last month or so. Trying new pre workouts to find the best. I have to say, I took the recommended 1 scope dose and man my heart was racing. I was sweating more while working out too. I was able to lift heavy and had no loss of energy after a 2 hour workout. I backed it off to a 3/4 scoop full and same results. I like it so far, my best advice is start at a half a scoop. This stuff is powerful.

3/15/18 update. So at first this pre workout was awesome. I really felt pumped. I don’t know if I just got used to it or what, but I don’t get the same energy rush anymore. It’s to bad. I ordered another run so I will see how that one does. I do however like the taste. Put more water in it if it’s too sweet. I also don’t get any type of crash or have trouble sleeping.

Decent Pre-Workout. But the caffeine is overkill. Causes insomnia after each use so I decided to stop using it. This (and other pre-workouts in general) should only be taken if you are tolerant and not sensitive to caffeine. It does have some decent ingredients in it, and it does sometimes help on days when you could do with a boost with your workout. Tastes okay too, has a lot of sourness to it (kind of like those sour sweets that kids love), the Intra-Kage tastes better but this is tolerable.
