What You Need To Know About PNI Testovol

PNI Testovol is a US made supplement that is on sale in many countries across the world, as well as the USA. It is only available from independent retailers and you cannot buy it directly from the PNI website. The supplement is a combination of ingredients to both increase testosterone, and decrease oestrogen. The T boosting effect should work at least temporarily because it contains DAA which does come with some evidence. However, suppressing your oestrogen levels may cause unforeseen future health issues such as bone thinning.

What Are The Side Effects Of PNI Testovol?

Potential side effects may include increased risk of osteoporosis, stomach upset, increased urination, diarrhoea, muscle pain, vaginal dryness, and hot flushes.

How Much Does PNI Testovol Cost?

PNI Testovol is expensive. The recommended retail price from PNI is $69.99 for a bottle of 180 capsules (60 servings).

You can shop around for price as it is on sale from independent retailers as well as those in different countries around the world.
At the time of writing, it does not seem to be easily available in the USA.

We have seen it on sale in a New Zealand supplements store for $89.95 (New Zealand dollars)

We have also seen it on sale from a European supplements store for €44.90

Our Verdict On PNI Testovol

PNI Testovol may have an effect upon testosterone levels and oestrogen levels but in our opinion, taking this supplement does come at a risk to long-term health. If you do want to increase T levels making changes to diet and lifestyle is a safer way to go. In addition, you could try a DAA supplement which does seem to work in the way as described and seems safer for health.

We have concerns about suppressing oestrogen permanently with an aromase inhibitor. Your endocrine system is complex and messing about with your hormones can cause numerous long-term medical issues, including some cancers. Taking this AI is very similar to the medication taken every day by millions of women post breast cancer, and it just seems wrong and extremely unsexy to do this for the promise of extra manliness. It won’t make you more manly, it will just make your bones more likely to thin in later age. If you do take part in competitive sport it could get you banned for doping.

Testovol obviously has some problems with distribution. It is not easy to find on sale in the USA and only small independent retailers seem to sell it elsewhere.

In our opinion, this supplement does not look very reliable or safe, so we do not recommendPNI Testovol to the Watchdog readers.

PNI Testovol Review

PNI Testovol is a supplement that claims to enhance your testosterone levels with safe and legal ingredients. This supplement is not a steroid, and it does not contain synthetic testosterone or the semi-legal DMEA. That said, there are some strong ingredients here that may be effective.

PNI Testovol Facts

  • Each serving consists of 3 capsules
  • Contains 180 capsules per bottle (60 servings or 30 days supply)
  • Made in the USA

Testosterone is very important for men. Although we all think of the effects on strength and performance in muscle building, sport, sex, and stamina, the truth is that testosterone levels are linked to a man’s general state of health.

Levels drop after 30 and continue to reduce each year, and it can be made worse by an unhealthy lifestyle such as too little exercise, a bad diet, and too much alcohol. You can improve testosterone levels by making lifestyle changes, but taking a supplement will also help get your T levels back on track making you healthier and stronger into the bargain.

How to Take PNI Testovol

  • Take (3) capsules first thing in the morning.
  • Take (3) additional capsules 45 minutes prior to workout
  • If you work out first thing in the morning take (3) capsules before training and (3) capsules 8 hours after first dose
  • On non-training days take 3 capsules first thing in the morning and 3 capsules 8 hours later
  • Do not exceed recommended dosage
  • Do not exceed 8 weeks of continuous use without a 4 week off break

PNI Testovol contains a blend of plant extracts including Stinging Nettle Root, Burning Bush (we hope this isn’t a side effect!), and Prunella Vulgaris, a garden herb known by the folk name of Heal All.

It also contains D Aspartic Acid and a compound called Androsta-3, 5-diene-7, 17-dione which may help to prevent the body’s natural conversion of testosterone into oestrogen. Take a look at the ingredients tab to find out more.

PNI Testovol Concerns:

  • Why is this supplement only on sale from small independent websites outside the USA?
  • Taking this supplement could lead to medical problems later
  • Do you need this supplement? How do you know your sex hormones need tweaking in this way? This seems like something that should be left to a qualified medical professional rather than trusting to an unproven OTC supplement

PNI is an American sports supplements company based in Fayetteville, Georgia. According to the ‘about us’ information, PNI has been in operation for 20 years and is involved with every step of the process from sourcing raw ingredients, manufacture, and distribution. PNI does not sell supplements direct from the product website, but there is a list of outlets where you can buy online. PNI supplements are available in many countries of the world including Europe and New Zealand.

What Does PNI Testovol Claim To Do?

There are three key features to this supplement:

  • INCREASED Testosterone
  • MODULATES Estrogen Activity
  • PROMOTES Hormone Balance

According to the advertising,

Testosterone is the king of androgens and regarded as the ultimate hormone for muscle building, libido, and overall vitality and wellness in men; but with age, poor diet, increased levels of stress, and exogenous androgen use, your natural production of testosterone may not be at optimal levels.

According to the advertising,

Testovol™ was engineered to offer a full spectrum, multi-faceted testosterone and anti-estrogen solution to bolster your overall Free Test and Total Test levels with tried-and-true ingredients and innovative compounds.

Does PNI Testovol Work?

We cannot see the point of this supplement. If you want to increase testosterone, taking DAA on its own is a much safer option. DAA comes with evidence that it increases testosterone and sperm count and because the effect is temporary, it means that it probably will not cause too much in the way of hormonal imbalance.

Many athletes take DAA and there is evidence that it works.

The rest of the supplement is more concerned with reducing oestrogen than it is increasing testosterone, and we find it pretty strange that much of it is pretty much the same as post breast cancer medication for women. One of the side effects of a lack of oestrogen is bone thinning which is why there is vitamin D contained in this supplement, but do you really want to run this risk?

In addition, some of the plant extracts are pretty unproven. Stinging nettles and Burning Bush – there is no real evidence that they will work as described because most of the claims are theoretical and nothing else.

We would be extremely cautious about taking this supplement.

What Are The Ingredients of PNI Testovol?

  • DAA (D-Aspartic acid sodium salt): Most likely the principle ingredient. DAA is a form of the amino acid aspartic acid, and early research indicates it that it raises luteinizing hormone, stimulating the production of testosterone. In this form with sodium, it is more soluble than taking it without sodium and side effects are less likely. DAA may be effective for temporarily increasing testosterone with levels returning to normal after around a week. It has a mild stimulatory effect as well. The usual serving size is between 2000 – 3000mg so this is probably reflected in this supplement.
  • Stinging nettle: Described as a libido enhancer, Urtica Dioica contains a natural chemical called 3, 4-Divanillyltetrahydrofuran (DVTHF) which is supposed to bind to a blood protein in the body and help transport free testosterone. It is believed that doing this will in theory increase testosterone, but we have not been able to find much in the way of scientific evidence to prove this.
  • Prunella Vulgaris: Common garden plant (weed) with a long tradition of being a healing plant; its folk name is Self Heal after all, so it obviously does something! Prunella Vulgaris has been shown to exert antiestrogenic effects. It contains two natural chemicals, Ursolic Acid and Betulinic Acid, and findings suggest their potential use as therapeutic agents against estrogen-dependent tumors. Source
  • Androsta-3,5-diene-7,17-dione: Aromase inhibitor, which means that it suppresses the manufacture of oestrogen in the body by permanently binding and inactivating oestrogen synthesis (aromtase). This is closely related to an anti oestrogen drug called Exemastane, which is taken by women who have undergone breast cancer and other oestrogen related cancers. Although it is not a steroid, this compound can cause a positive test for anabolic steroid Boldenone. It is also banned in its own right by some sporting authorities who ban all forms of AI (Aromase Inhibitor) substances. Source
  • Burning Bush extract (Euonymus Alatus): Attractive garden plant but also taken as a supplement. The claims here are that it will be good for cardiovascular health and reduce fat deposits, but there is no evidence that it will do anything at all.
  • Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol): Taking an Aromase inhibitor to reduce or prevent oestrogen production will also cause bone thinning (osteoporosis). Taking vitamin D3 may help prevent this.
