Nutrition Labz CRG Isolate Protein

Nutrition Labz CRG Isolate Protein is a whey protein supplement that may suit you if you are looking to bulk up and build muscle. It comes in a choice of flavours and is manufactured using cold filtration techniques. Most of our experience about cold filtration has come from beer we admit, so is this protein supplement also worth a try? We take a look.

CRG Isolate Protein comes from Nutrition Labz a US supplements company that seems to specialise in bodybuilding and weight loss supplements. These are sold exclusively from the official website, rather than shops, stores or online retailers. This is all fine, but the lack of background info about Nutrition Labz such as a company address is a matter for concern.

Nutrition Labz CRG Isolate Protein Pros

What You Need To Know About Nutrition Labz CRG Isolate Protein

Nutrition Labz CRG Isolate Protein is a whey protein powdered supplement that may help you increase muscle building as well as aid recovery. Whey protein isolate is popular with bodybuilders and CRG Isolate Protein looks like a good example.

The downside is that Nutrition Labz does not provide any real information about the company and this supplement is only available via the official website. This lack of information combined with no feedback spoils what is otherwise a good looking supplement.

What Are The Side Effects Of Nutrition Labz CRG Isolate Protein?

Side effects may include; increased bowel movements, abdominal discomfort, gas, nausea, thirst, headaches, fatigue, or loss of appetite.

How Much Does Nutrition Labz CRG Isolate Protein Cost?

CRG Protein Isolate is not overly expensive but the fact that it is only available from the official Nutrition Labz website means that you cannot shop around for price.

1 x 2lb tub (containing 78 servings) costs $59.99 with flat rate shipping to addresses within the USA $7.99. You can pay only via credit card or with PayPal.

According to the sales information you can find Groupon offers on social media to qualify for a discount, which you apply by clicking the “apply coupon button”. You are also warned that cancelling the order incurs a fine of $20.00. We are not sure that doing this is legal or conforms to the rules of distance selling that requires companies to provide a “cooling off” period.

Our Verdict On Nutrition Labz CRG Isolate Protein

We quite like CRG Protein Isolate. This looks like a good quality protein powder supplement that may help you build muscle and lose fat. Many body builders use protein supplements with whey protein isolate generally considered the best form of whey. The cold filtration process may help prevent the powder clumping, which is a common problem with many protein powders.

However, we are not so impressed with the lack of information about Nutrition Labz, and the fact that you can only buy via the website is of concern. It means that you cannot shop around for price, and with the dodgy looking cancellation fee; this does not seem a very professional outfit. The lack of customer feedback and absence of guarantee is also of concern.

We love that Nutrition Labz have provided a full ingredients profile and in our opinion, this does look good. But there is just something about the lack of background info about the company that makes us cautious about recommending this supplement.

Nutrition Labz CRG Isolate Protein Review

CRG Isolate Protein is a whey protein supplement containing a full spectrum of amino acids and according to the product information is low carb, natural and with no added sugars.

Whey protein isolate is derived from cheese production, and is created from separating the components of milk. If you remember the old nursery rhyme that saw little Miss Moffat eating her curds and whey, these two dairy products are better known now as cottage cheese. The curds are the lumps and the whey the liquid.

Today whey is useful as a dietary supplement and is refined into three forms; whey concentrate, whey hydrolysate and as here whey isolate.

Whey Isolate is usually seen as the best form to take in a supplement because it contains the highest percentage of pure protein and is pure enough to be practically carb free. This means it contains a wide spectrum of amino acids including the three branched chain Amino acids (BCCAs), which are quickly absorbed by the body and ideal for building muscle and strength.

Amino acids are often referred to as the building blocks of protein and essentially, they are the components of the stuff of life of everything, including plants and primitive lifeforms.

According to The American Heritage Science Dictionary, an amino acid can be,
“Any of various organic acids containing both an amino group and a carboxyl group, especially any of the 20 or more compounds that link together to form proteins”

Nutrition Labz CRG Isolate Protein Facts

  • Each tub contains 78 servings
  • Contains whey protein isolate as the sole ingredient
  • No address provided for this US based business

CRG Isolate Protein also comes with this added advantage of cold filtration a method of production that chills the final product, after initial filtration and this enables any lumps which stick together in the cold, to be further filtered out.

This should lead to a smoother powder that does not clump together as so many do and in our opinion, this seems like a real advantage over other powders on the market. But is just not mentioned in the product advertising.

How to Take Nutrition Labz CRG Isolate Protein

No instructions for use provided.

We have covered Nutrition Labz supplements before, and one of the major reservations we have about this company is that it provides inadequate information.

The supplements are not fully explained and the company are a bit mysterious about their whereabouts, making the whole set up look untrustworthy. Although a lack of information about a company’s location does not make any difference when you are buying online, it does not give the buyer much confidence that should anything go wrong with the transaction.

We covered Nutrition Labz Booty Pump and Cuts is a previous review.

Nutrition Labz CRG Isolate Protein Concerns:

  • There should always be directions provided for supplements. This is not the case here
  • Lack of information is confusing to customers
  • No customer feedback. Suggests that this supplement is unpopular

What Does Nutrition Labz CRG Isolate Protein Claim To Do?

As is usual with Nutrition Labz, there is not much explanation to help the customer.
The three key features are;

  • 100% Cold Filtered ION-Exchange Whey Protein
  • Full-Spectrum Amino Acids with BCAA’s
  • All Natural. No Sugars Added. Low-Carb

The description is as follows,
“Cold – filtered whey isolate protein is one of the highest biological value whey known to man. Its massive concentration of branched chain amino acids are quickly absorbed into the body, used to help fuel muscle growth and protein- synthesis”

There is also a list of all the amino acids contained in each serving, along with their quantities which is extremely good.

We do get fed up with the hard sell strategies and over complicated explanations of supplements that many companies use in their advertising, and Nutrition Labz could never be accused of doing that.

However, in our opinion there should be more explanation to help customers.

Does Nutrition Labz CRG Isolate Protein Work?

Yes, we think this protein supplement looks pretty good. Whey protein isolate is considered superior to other forms of whey protein and contains a comprehensive amino acid profile. According to most bodybuilders, Whey protein isolate is fast working and easily absorbed by the body and usually contains at least 90% protein, compared with the lower protein count of whey protein concentrate at between 30% to 90%.

When combined with exercise and training it can increase muscle mass and reduce fat. Whey protein Isolate is also known to reduce cholesterol

Most bodybuilders use protein shakes to increase muscle mass and CRG Isolate Protein looks as good, if not better than many others on the market.

What Are The Ingredients of Nutrition Labz CRG Isolate Protein?

CRG Isolate Protein is available in three flavours; chocolate, vanilla or peanut butter chocolate. Each serving is equal to one scoop (1oz or 28g). Total carbs are 5g per serving, plus 1g of fat and 1.5g sugar.

  • Whey Protein Isolate (21g): This form of whey protein is considered superior to whey concentrate. It is easily absorbed and fast working and used correctly will help build muscle mass. The complete amino acid profile is provided by the product information.
  • Isoleucine (1757 mg): Isoleucine is one of the three branched chain amino acids (BCCAs) and is important for increasing glucose uptake (into a cell) and breakdown (into energy) to a larger degree than other amino acids. It may serve a role as a hypoglycaemic (in diabetics) or as a performance enhancer (if taken pre-workout in a carbohydrate replete state).
  • Valine (1273mg): Out of the three BCCAs, Valine is probably the least important but together these BCAAS may help supplement diet and benefit a training regime.
  • Cysteine (1416mg): Essential amino acid (only available from diet) that is important for the immune system.
  • Glutamic acid (2953 mg): Produced by the body, it stimulates the nerves in the central nervous system and produces another amino acid called glutamine which is important for muscle development.
  • Aspartic acid (2168 mg): Early research indicates it this amino acid raises luteinizing hormone, stimulating the production of testosterone and oestrogen.
  • Proline (236 mg): Amino acid used in the biosynthesis of proteins.
  • Serine (1316 mg): This is made in the body from two other amino acids, glycine and threonine. It is present in every cell of the body and is present in most protein foodstuffs as here. It is important for many roles in the body but is not really required in supplement form. It can cause allergic reaction to some foods.
  • Alanine (1085 mg): Non essential amino acid that plays a crucial role in the production of muscle. It is present in meat and fish and anyone looking to build muscle looks for foods which are high in this vital amino acid.
  • Tryptophan (563 mg): amino acid present in many foods including turkey and Brazil nuts. Once in the body, it eventually converts to serotonin, the brains feel good chemical. It is not safe to take pills high in tryptophan because it can be potentially fatal if you combine it with anti depression medication such as SSR1. However here it is part of the natural make up of the protein powder so should be safe if you do not overdo daily serving size.
  • Leucine (3031 mg): Leucine is a branched chain amino acid (BCCA or branched chain refers to the molecular shape). It is the principle BCCA and it is supposed to promote muscle protein synthesis as well as reduce blood sugar levels. It is usually taken in serving size of between 2000- 5000mg. It may be effective but there is no real evidence that L Leucine does cause increased muscle growth as is usually claimed.
  • Lysine (2483 mg): When taken on its own Lysine may not do much but here as the general make up of whey protein isolate.
  • Methionine (679 mg): Can help protect the liver. When used as a supplement in its own right it is effective against Tylenol poisoning.
  • Phenylalanine (1456 mg): Amino acid which seems to strengthen the chemical messengers in the body although scientists have not discovered exactly how it works.
  • Tyrosine (981 mg): Tyrosine is an amino acid made in body that helps the body convert fat into energy as well as being important for mental functioning.
  • Histidine (299 mg): Involved in numerous metabolic functions in the body and sometimes taken as a supplement to treat rheumatoid arthritis.
