Myotein comes from US company XPI Supplements, who specialise in body builder supplements and male products aimed at boosting testosterone. The company is based in Provo Utah.
XPI Supplements Myotein looks to be a reasonably appealing protein powder that is available in five flavours. It contains a blend of whey protein, so if you use it as a workout supplement or as a meal replacement you may find that it helps you build muscle and/or lose weight, depending on how you use it. There is nothing that special about it and it seems very similar to thousands of similar looking powders on the market, so like all the others, this one will work if you use it correctly.
Potential side effects may include; bloating, stomach cramps, thirst, fatigue, headaches, nausea, and increased bowel movements.
Myotein is not overly expensive, and because it is on sale via various sellers you can shop around for price.
Buy from the XPI Supplements website and a 2lbs tub (26 servings) costs $29.95. This price is described as a discount offer but it appears to be the usual price.
You can also buy a 5lbs tub for $59.95 (65 servings). This option includes a free shaker.

You can also find Myotein on sale via Amazon USA for around the same price.
Myotein looks pretty good. Many customers enjoy the flavour and consistency so if you are looking for a protein powder to support weight loss as a meal replacement or as a workout supplement for muscle, this one may be a good choice. The price is not bad and it even comes with an advertised guarantee, so theoretically you could even get your money back should you be dissatisfied.
However we are not impressed with the ingredients profile and lack of information about the active ingredients. Nor the claims that the supplement does not include filler ingredients and sugar when it so obviously does, and we never like advertising claims that imply that a product is award winning, when it so obviously is not.
The bottom line is that Myotein looks OK, but is just not good enough to add to our approved list. We do not recommend XPI Myotein to our readers.
Myotein is a protein powder aimed at bodybuilders who wish to bulk up on muscle without adding to fat and according to the product advertising, features a superior blend of 6 types of protein with no added filler ingredients.
The first thing you notice about the black and white bottle is that each serving contains 24g of protein, 1g of fats, and 4g of carbs, so it is good that you can see this simple ingredient profile immediately.
The flavours seem a little better than usual too. According to the product information, there are five flavours in the range. These are: Creamy Chocolate, Strawberry Milkshake, French Vanilla, Mocha Latte, and our personal favourite, Salted Caramel.
All this sounds good, although nothing really different to thousands of other products on the market. Looking into the ingredients list in further detail and it is hard to define what makes Myotein so apparently special.
The protein blend lacks full information. We are told that it adds up to 24g per serving, but the six advertised proteins are combined in unknown quantities. That said they are all variations on whey protein, so this supplement should be as good as other whey protein supplements on the market.
According to the advertising, Myotein also contains digestive enzymes in order to increase absorption. Take a look at the ingredients tab to find out more.

Myotein is described as the top rated protein powder 5 years running. This is a powerful claim that suggests that this supplement is superior to others on the market. So we did some digging to find out more about this. It sounds after all as if this supplement has won some kind of award.
The truth is that this supplement has not won anything for 5 years running, and it appears the only people saying this are XPI, the marketers of the supplement.
This means that if you are expecting Myotein to be an award winning supplement that is better than the rest, you will be disappointed.
What looks impressive on the product website are the before and after pictures of people who have supposedly taken Myotein and achieved bodybuilding gains. We looked into these pictures and found the same images showing up on many other product websites. So there are no guarantees that Myotein or any supplement will work in the same way for you, and highly possible that the men achieved their gains on a completely different regime.
XPI Supplements is a US based supplements company, and buried away in the small print an address in Provo Utah is provided. As Utah is the centre of the US supplements industry as well as home to numerous dodgy diet companies, this is not particularly trust inspiring.
You can contact the company via phone or email, and you can also sign up to the Insiders Program that gives you a 10% discount on your first order and sends you tips and tricks and daily deals on various products.
We have covered XPI supplements in previous reviews, including testosterone boosting protein powder Androshed.
The main advertised claims are as follows,
Bearing in mind that we have already found that the only organisation rating this supplement as the top rated protein powder 5 years running is XPI, the company selling it, this claim suddenly seems unconvincing.
Likewise with the chef approved flavors… really? Do we really need to hear that a chef has approved some pretty simple looking and standard flavors? We do like salted caramel, but this is a pretty standard flavor these days.
We like the sound of the guarantee and the 50% money off offer, however we were only offered 10% off the first order and not a 50% reduction as claimed.
Any protein powder will work (within reason) if you use it correctly. The aim is to bulk up on protein without adding fat, so if you use this supplement in combination with a training regime, you should get results. We think Myotein will work as well as many other protein powders on the market, but it really comes down to your own efforts.
Each serving contains 24g of protein, which is a pretty standard sized serving. It contains 120 calories per serving too.
This supplement claims to not include filler ingredients, but it is high in sodium and cholesterol, as well as flavourings and binders (AKA filler ingredients) such as sodium chloride, xanthan gum, and Sucralose.
The plus point about the added salt and flavourings could be that these improve the flavour, so make Myotein easy to take. After all, if you do not like the taste it is going to be hard sticking to any regime.
Serving size is equal to one scoop (35.54g). It is immediately apparent from the label that this supplement does contain over 11g of filler ingredients, bearing in mind that the protein content only adds up to 24g.
The ingredients profile of all flavours is the same, but flavourings will be slightly different depending on variety. We looked at the Creamy Chocolate flavour.
Myotein also includes minerals:
Other ingredients:
Myotein may cause the usual side effects of whey protein supplements. These include;

Yes there are customer reviews for Myotein, and many are pleased with the supplement.
Many people love the flavours. This one is for Chocolate Cream,
OH MY GOD!!!! This is the best protein shake I have EVER tasted! Most have a gritty taste but the name “creamy” says it all. It’s like a milk shake from an ice cream shop! Also, my appetite is suppressed for hours. You can’t go wrong with this one!!!
Strawberry was equally well received,
….Recently ordered the strawberry milkshake, by far the best taste I’ve had so far out of all the other kinds. Will definitely return to Myotein for more.
I think most protein shakes are disgusting, but I ordered the French vanilla flavor of this and it tastes like a creamy milkshake! I tried it with both water and skim milk and it didn’t really make a difference. Very filling. I use it after high calorie burning work outs and often don’t even want my next meal.
Great taste, easy on the stomach and does what it states builds muscle.
Many customers have mentioned that,
It tastes great and provides a filling meal substitute.
However not all customers are as satisfied,
Overly sweet, thin texture, almost tolerable after eating, but actively awful on an empty stomach.
After trying this for a few days after a workout. It made me feel like I was coming down from a sugar high. Made me extremely tired. Thought first time it happened just a fluke, maybe I was just tired but no it happened every time I took it within 10 minutes it exhausted me.
This was the worst protein that I’ve ever had. Don’t buy it!!!
