Muscle Meds is a US supplements company based in New Jersey and is well-known throughout the bodybuilding world for their supplements and powders. The company was founded in 2008 by bodybuilder Gerard Dente and the wide range of supplements is targeted at hardcore bodybuilders and weight lifters.
Muscle Meds Carnivore is a protein powder derived from beef protein rather than the more usual whey. It looks to be effective and many customers who struggle with lactose and dairy products have been delighted with the absence of side effects. If you put in the training, you will probably find that it helps you build muscle. That said, many customers have really complained about the 10 flavours. Overall chocolate seems to be the least offensive so if you are going to try Muscle Meds Carnivor for yourself, this is probably the safest option.
Side effects are unlikely. However some people have complained about foul smelling gas and smelly breath.
Muscle Meds Carnivore is not badly priced and you can buy it in a choice of size options.
If you buy direct from the Muscle Meds website, prices are as follows:
You can choose your container size and flavour at the point of sale.
Available flavours are:
You can also buy Muscle Meds Carnivor via Amazon for around the same price.
Muscle Meds Carnivor looks to be a good quality supplement. If you have issues with whey protein but want an effective protein supplement to support your training and workouts, this one may fit the bill. Many people have been very pleased with this supplement and have seen muscle gains as a result of using. Side effects are not an issue (aside from gas) either.
That said, there is something very unappealing about a sweet-flavoured beef protein supplement. In our opinion it is a mystery why Muscle Meds did not add a savoury flavour such as beef. Many customers have complained bitterly about the flavours and in our opinion this lets this protein powder down. It is reasonably priced enough but will be a total waste of money if you buy it and cannot drink it without it making you gag.
Muscle Meds Carnivor is a protein powder that contains beef protein isolate, described as an “advanced bioengineered beef protein”. According to the product advertising, beef protein concentrate has numerous advantages over whey protein; it is less likely to cause the usual gastric side effects and is more powerful and effective, containing more amino acids and protein than whey.
According to clinical studies carried out in Austin, Texas, athletes gained 7.7lbs of muscle by using Carnivor over an 8-week period and significantly increased strength as well.
As everyone knows plenty of steak in your diet is good for muscle building! When taken as a protein powder, the results seem even more effective. According to the product information it has 20 times the Creatine content of steak and without the high cholesterol.
We are always concerned about meat in supplements. There can be concerns about the quality of the meat used as well as any risk of brain tissue showing up and increasing the risk of CJD – a degenerative brain disease.
Add 1 scoop of powder to a glass of water and blend. Drink before your workout.
Muscle Meds outline their lengthy production process in the product information. There are six stages from beef to powder and the final product is rigorously tested and approved by the USDA. This protein powder does look to be safe and good quality. That said it will not appeal to everyone. There is a yuck reaction to supplements containing meat products so many people may prefer to stick with whey because it just sounds a lot more acceptable than beef protein.
Muscle Meds Carnivor comes in a choice of 10 flavours. You can choose between chocolate, vanilla, fruit punch and more. All the flavours are sweet and while this may work for whey protein, it does not seem to be as successful when used with beef protein.
We never understand why protein powder manufacturers always go for such sweet flavours and a high proportion of customers have complained about some of these. The least disturbing flavour in the range appears to be chocolate but the combination of beef protein and sweets sounds pretty unappetising. Why not flavour the beef protein with a savoury flavour such as beef? In our opinion that would be a more palatable solution.
Muscle Meds is a New Jersey-based company that specialises in fairly hardcore body-building supplements. Carnivor is the principle supplement with other products in The Carnivor range including numerous beef protein derived products such as Carnivor Protein Bar and Carnivore Raging Bull – a protein powder with added caffeine.
Muscle Meds Carnivor is billed as “The World’s First Pharmaceutical Grade All Beef Protein Isolate!” and according to the product information is vastly superior to whey protein isolate.
The key advantages are as follows:
Muscle Meds manufacture their own supplements and appear to have invested a lot of time and research into designing the process. They are pioneers in this technology which is explained fully on the website:
As a result of the monumental Muscle Meds beef protein isolate project, new technological breakthroughs were developed that enabled Muscle Meds to harness the awesome muscle building power of beef in a 99% pure pharmaceutical grade protein supplement.
The hydrolysis technology used to create CARNIVOR beef protein isolate is unmatched in the protein industry and helps create the finest BPI available.
Using proprietary extraction, clarification, hydrolysis and isolation technologies enabled CARNIVOR’s Bioengineered Beef Protein Isolate to deliver the muscle building power of beef with higher amino acid levels than all other protein sources used in supplements including whey, soy, milk and egg.
CARNIVOR Beef Protein Isolate is even 350% more concentrated in anabolic muscle building amino acids than a prime sirloin steak! And it has no fat or cholesterol.
All protein powders will probably work if you use them correctly. Muscle Meds Carnivor will help you build muscle and increase strength as claimed that is if you use it to support your training regime. The test results mentioned in the advertising which saw participants gain 7.7lbs in 8 weeks were based on people who were working out for 5 days a week and following a healthy diet.
In addition, this test only compared the control group to a group taking no supplements at all. Had it been compared to a group taking whey protein, there may have been similar results for the whey protein group.
That said, many people are noticing positive benefits from Carnivor and many have welcomed the absence of side effects that some people experience when using whey concentrate.
Although the protein powder is derived from only beef protein plus flavourings, the exact quantity of the various constituents is unknown.
Each serving size is equal to one scoop of powder (37g) and contains 120 calories.
Anabolic Nitrogen Retention Technology Intermediates:
Muscle Meds Carnivor is unlikely to have any serious side effects. However some customers have mentioned very strong and unpleasant smelling gas.
Not suitable for individuals under 18. Avoid if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Obviously not suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
There are a lot of customer reviews for Muscle Meds Carnivor on Amazon alone. Feedback is generally positive and left by people who have switched to using Carnivor after whey protein.
I used whey protein for a long time and within 1 hour of taking it (post workout) I would be in the bathroom. Carnivor has quite literally changed my life in that matter, as upon switching to this beef-based protein powder I no longer suffer from the gastrointestinal issues I had with whey…
I am almost 50 and I find it harder now to drop fat and gain muscle. After using Carnivor for a month I can see an improvement in muscle mass and fat reduction. I also have IBS and this is the only product that I have used that didn’t mess with my stomach. Muscle Meds is great.
Despite the good feedback many people have mentioned the taste of some of the flavours and not in a good way.
Great protein! The taste was easy to get over! Gains are awesome in a very short period!
I’m going to try to block this event out of my mind. Just thinking about the flavor makes me nauseous. To be clear, this was the most horrific smelling, tasting, and looking blend I’ve ever seen. I took one sip and had to immediately spit it out…
Worst tasting %#@! ever!!! Tastes like you are drinking pink power steering fluid. I have tried many different protein powders, this is the worst.
It mixes better than whey but it foams a loooooot. And it takes awhile until the foam goes down. The taste is horrible; I usually mix it with PB powder or almond milk to taste better.
Best protein by contents, just look at the label. That being said, you can really feel the pureness when you let one rip (you will rip a lot) of the potency of the smell. I suggest opening all the windows. Also not to let it out in the car, almost suffocated.
I’ve tried a lot of protein supplements. This one is by far the best. Don’t get the vanilla caramel flavor. It’s disgusting. Chocolate is good.
It’s good protein if you can get past that this is all of the nasty parts of the cow ground up into consumable powder.
There is no money-back guarantee with Muscle Meds Carnivore.
You can buy Muscle Meds Carnivor direct from the Muscle Meds website. It is also on sale from numerous independent supplement retailers as well as Amazon for around the same price.
