MAN Sports Body Octane

Whilst many people use pre-workout supplements to boost their performance, many pre-workout supplements contain stimulants that boost energy levels but can also disrupt sleep patterns. For anyone who works out in the evening this can be problematic, and so a stimulant-free pre-workout supplement is definitely preferable.

What You Need To Know About MAN Sports Body Octane

MAN Sports Body Octane is advertised as a stimulant-free “clinically dosed performance aid” that will boost muscular endurance, promote fat loss, and enhance strength and performance.

MAN Sports Body Octane comes in a choice of two flavours, Strawberry Mango or Lemon Lime. The supplement is manufactured by MAN Sports, a company based in the USA.

What Are The Side Effects Of MAN Sports Body Octane?

Some of the ingredients found in MAN Sports Body Octane can cause a range of side effects.

The most common side effect of Beta Alanine is a tingling sensation in the muscles; many consider this a sign that the Beta-alanine is working, and as evidence that the supplement is indeed correctly dosed. Some people may dislike the tingling sensation, but it is not a sign of anything negative or more serious. Flushing is also a side effect caused by taking high doses of Beta alanine.

Citrulline Malate can cause an upset stomach in some people, but this is less likely if taken on an empty stomach.

L-Carnitine can cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, heartburn, diarrhoea, and seizures. It can also cause the urine, breath, and sweat to have a “fishy” odour.

Although Tyrosine is tolerated generally in very high doses, it can cause some side effects including nausea, headache, fatigue, heartburn, and joint pain.

How Much Does MAN Sports Body Octane Cost?

The price of MAN Sports Body Octane varies significantly between the different online retailers that stock the supplement, so it definitely pays to shop around.

MAN Sports Body Octane can be purchased from the official MAN Sports website. A single tub, which contains 30 servings, costs $34.99. Delivery charges may also apply.

The supplement is also sold through numerous third-party online retailers. Bodybuilding.com charge $28.48 per tub, plus delivery charges. A tub is available on Amazon for $32.97 plus shipping charges, but this product is eligible for delivery with Amazon Prime.

iHerb charge £18.94 per tub, and offer a 5% discount when purchasing three or more tubs at once. Predator Nutrition charge £29.99. Delivery charges may also apply; the company offer free UK shipping on orders of £30 or more. Amazon.co.uk charge £30.00 per tub, with free UK delivery.

Our Verdict On MAN Sports Body Octane

The directions for use for MAN Sports Body Octane indicate that you need to drink a lot of water whilst taking this supplement – they recommend a gallon a day (over 3.7 litres)! This has led numerous people to complain in reviews about feeling “sloshy” when they run or exercise on a stomach full of water. Some people have also experienced other side effects whilst taking MAN Sports Body Octane. Customer reviews are mixed, with some people loving the supplement, whilst others were underwhelmed by the results or experienced side effects.

The ingredients appear to be somewhat effective and clinically dosed, but some reviewers are still disappointed by the performance of the supplement, probably because they are comparing it to stimulant based alternatives. The main advantage of stimulant-free pre-workout supplements such as MAN Sports Body Octane, is that it will not affect sleep patterns or cause stimulant related side effects; this makes it a good choice for anyone who wants to reduce their caffeine intake, or who typically works out in the evening.

MAN Sports offer a money back guarantee on their products when purchased direct from their official website. However, third party retailers do offer lower prices than the official MAN Sports website.

Overall, we do not recommend MAN Sports Body Octane to our readers.

Does MAN Sports Body Octane Work?

L-Carnitine L-Tartrate does not appear to aid weight loss in general, but there is some evidence that it can support physical performance and improve power output.

L-Aspartic Acid may increase testosterone levels as well, especially if consumers have low testosterone levels to start with.

Beta alanine will maximise the consumer’s performance in the gym, especially if they are concentrating on muscle building exercises. By being able to work harder, consumers will be able to build more muscle overall.

Histidine doesn’t seem to have any real benefits from supplementing it, at least as far as current studies show.

Customer reviews are mixed; whilst some people experienced side effects, others claim that it is not strong enough for them personally, whilst others state that they like the product. It may be the lack of stimulant ingredients that have caused some people to be disappointed by the strength of the supplement; obviously the energy boost from this supplement is going to be different and milder than the boost felt from a stimulant based supplement packed with caffeine, synephrine, and yohimbe.

What Are The Ingredients of MAN Sports Body Octane?

The ingredients found in MAN Sports Body Octane are detailed below. The ingredient quantities listed are per serving of one scoop of the powder, which is 10.6 grams. Each tub contains a serving scoop for accurate dosing.

  • Niacin 25mg (125% RDA): Vitamin B3, or Niacin, is responsible for helping to produce energy from consumed food, as well as helping keep the nervous and digestive systems healthy. Niacin can be easily sourced in adequate amounts from a balanced diet. Persistent excessive consumption of niacin has been linked with increased rates of obesity in American Children. Source
  • Vitamin B6 (as Pyridoxine HCL) 5mg (250% RDA): Vitamin B6 has several important functions in the body, including ‘allowing the body to use and store energy from protein and carbohydrates in food’. Whilst taking excess amounts of Vitamin B6 will not infinitely improve this ability, a deficiency could make it more difficult to lose weight. Vitamin B6 is naturally present in a wide variety of foods, including meat, cereals, bread, and vegetables, and is often included in fortified breakfast cereals. Source
  • Folic Acid 400mcg (100% RDA)
  • Vitamin B12 (as Methylcobalamin) 15mcg (250% RDA): Vitamin B12 is naturally present in many foods, primarily meat, fish, and dairy products. It has several roles, including aiding in releasing energy from consumed food, and keeping the nervous system healthy. It may be that a deficiency hinders weight loss, but taking excess amounts could be, according to the NHS, potentially harmful. Source
  • Pantothenic Acid (as D-Calcium Pantothenate) 10mg (100% RDA)
  • Citrulline Malate 1:1 3500mg: L-Citrulline is thought to increase l-arginine levels in the body, which in turn widens the blood vessels and increases blood flow to the muscles. Source
  • Beta Alanine (CarnoSyn®) 1600mg: Beta alanine has been repeatedly proven to raise the levels of muscle carnosine in the human body, which has the effect of increasing the amount of work athletes can perform in high-intensity workouts. Its use is accompanied by a distinctive “tingling” sensation in the muscles. Source
  • L-Carnitine L-Tartrate 1000mg: One study found that supplementation of L-carnitine, L-tartrate reduced muscle tissue damage from exercise and sped up recovery time. Compared to other forms of L-carnitine, it is more commonly used to boost muscular performance than contribute to weight loss. Source
  • N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine 96% 250mg: An amino acid that is a building block of protein, this ingredient is found naturally in many foods including meat and dairy products. Some people use it as an appetite suppressant, but there is little evidence that it is effective for this use. Large doses of tyrosine may be useful for increasing alertness, especially in people who are sleep deprived. Source
  • L-Aspartic Acid 98.5% 750mg: This amino acid that has been proven to raise testosterone and Luteinizing Hormone (LH) levels in men who have low testosterone levels. LH is used by the body to produce more testosterone. Source
  • Histidine HCL 99% 250mg: This amino acid is involved in a number of enzyme catalysed reactions. Supplementation of histidine is not thought to result in any outcome, positive or negative. Source

Are There Any Customer Reviews For MAN Sports Body Octane?

There are lots of reviews for MAN Sports Body Octane on the manufacturer’s official website, as well as on Bodybuilding.com and Amazon, where the supplement is also sold.

Left me light-headed. You definitely don’t want to take a full scoop of this unless you’re used to it. I felt very light-headed and jittery for about 2 hours after taking it. My workout was awful the first time. Eventually I found the right dose for me. You don’t get that “kick” of energy like you do from pre-workouts with stimulants but this is better than some other stim-free products I’ve used. I run around 6 miles a day before a light lifting workout. I feel it the most around mile 3 or 4 and lasts into my lift. Just wish it would give me more energy at the beginning without the dizziness or jitters. You also need to drink a lot of water with this which doesn’t work for me. I don’t like running on a stomach full of water.

Two stars. Did not work for me, messed my stomach up.

It took me a full can to realize just how amazing this non-stimulant pre-workout is. I can take it any time. This pre isn’t about the pump, it’s about the endurance it gives. It just keeps working. Perfect for higher cardio workouts. I love using creatine with this stuff. I have 2-3 stimulant pre workouts, and I find myself turning to Body Octane more times than not.

Meh. As far as non-stim pre[-workouts] go, this is pretty solid, but I needed 2 scoops to feel the beta-alanine.

Also, be warned it is VERY sweet. One scoop in 12 oz. of water and I was still puckering. So be aware that if you plan to dilute it enough, you’re going to be pretty full and immediately going for a jog isn’t going to be fun.

I normally love this product, however that past 2 times I have purchased it, it has been completely stuck together and hard as a rock. I had to break it up with a knife to even use it.

Maybe I’m crazy but it doesn’t seem to help much. Using creatine and caffeine pills works way better. If you can’t use caffeine, give this a try. It does make you tingly because of the beta alanine but I didn’t feel any extra boost from this.

Love this product! I have never tried a pre-workout before since I mainly workout around 6-7:30 at night and was scared that I would be up all night. With Body Octane I get the energy I need and am able to get to sleep after my workouts. I love using this product with scorch in the AM when I do fasted cardio as well. It’s amazing!!
