Kat-a-lyst is a supplements brand that comes with very little background information. It appears to be sold exclusively by US franchise company Nutrishop, a supplement retailer with a growing number of stores across the USA. Kat-a-lyst supplements are aimed at body builders and fitness fans with the idea of supporting training and muscle growth.
Kat-a-lyst Vasocor is like one of those supplements designed by a committee who couldn’t decide what to put in it, so decided to go for just about everything! This powdered drink supplement is available in 3 flavours and contains around 33 listed ingredients, included 3 branded supplements.
The problem is that this product lacks any real ingredients information so you will have no idea how much of anything you are taking and whether or not it will be effective and/or cause side effects. Added to this, the expensive price, lack of customer feedback and the absence of a guarantee makes Kat-a-lyst Vasocor look questionable.
There is another supplement on the market called Vasocor which is in capsule form, and is unrelated to Kat-a-lyst Vasocor.
There could be a wide range of side effects including, anxiety, jitteriness, tachycardia, increases in blood pressure levels, insomnia, headaches, nausea, stomach pain, dizziness, facial flushing, bloating, diarrhoea, asthma or worsening of asthma conditions, blood pressure abnormalities, birth defects, vomiting, chest pains, stomach pains, fatigue.
Kat-a-lyst Vasocor is expensive and because it only seems to be available via Nutrishop, you cannot shop around for price. It is in stock in Nutrishop stores across the USA, and you may be able to contact one of these shops to buy this supplement. Unfortunately you need to sign up to Nutrishop for an account before you get this relevant information. This seems pretty time consuming and unnecessarily complicated to us.
According to our Watchdog spies, 1 x 748g tub (50 servings) costs around $60.00.
We are not impressed with Kat-a-lyst Vasocor. This supplement suffers from a lack of information regarding ingredients and in our opinion taking this could have unpredictable effects, including a wide range of potential side effects. This lack of information includes the total absence of any explanation of how Vasocor is supposed to help you. In our opinion writing a few unproven advertising slogans on a product container is not enough for anyone to make an informed choice.
In addition we are also concerned about the Kat-a-lyst Nutraceuticals sales policy. This supplement is only on sale from one retail outlet and unless you can visit a store or are prepared to sign up to the website, you are not even allowed to see any details about the supplements, including the price. Does this indicate that Nutrishop are frightened of attracting adverse customer comments? This is often the reason why some companies keep their products under wraps and the fact there is zero customer feedback for Kat-a-lyst Vasocor seems to back up this theory.
Finally, this powdered drink supplement is very expensive and comes with no money back guarantee. If you try Kat-a-lyst Vasocor and experience some of the many potential side effects, you will have no way of obtaining a refund. In our opinion Kat-a-lyst is a poorly thought out, expensive supplement that will probably turn out to be a waste of money.
Kat-a-lyst Vasocor is a pre-workout powdered supplement that you add to water in order to make a drink. It comes in three flavours; orange, fruit punch and grape and the idea is that you drink it 30 minutes before working out in order to obtain the best results.
Before we go any further, consumers should be aware that Kat-a-lyst Vasocor is not the only Vasocor on the market. There is another supplement with the same name which is sold on Amazon. It is easy to tell the difference. The Amazon one is in capsule form and supposed to reduce cholesterol levels whereas Kat-a-lyst Vasocor is a powder that is supposed to boost energy levels. We will be looking into Vasocor as sold on Amazon in a later review.
Kat-a-lyst Vasocor contains a blend of vitamins and minerals but the specific energy boost function is in the form of 5 proprietary blends, called Phase 1 through to Phase 5. In truth, this is totally pointless because there is no information about the ingredient quantities contained in these phases, so the makers may have just as well lumped all the ingredients together under one name. But of course, 5 phases sounds more impressive than just one formula.
Kat-a-lyst Vasocor contains stimulants including caffeine and, we expect that much of the energy boosting effects will be down to this simple component. There are also some herbal ingredients that have a stimulatory effect such as Vinponectin and Huperzine. There are amino acids such as L Tyrosine and Phenylethylamine.
However the three principle ingredients appear to be three branded products that are available as supplements in their own right. These are CarnoSyn® – a supplement that contains Beta Alanine, an amino acid that research shows can increase carnosine in muscles. Carnosine is an amino acid that is concentrated in muscles when they are working, but is also important for other bodily functions. Increasing carnosine may increase muscle capability too.
It contains Kre-Alkalyn® a creatine supplement. Creatine is produced in the liver naturally from amino acids Arginine and Glycine. Research shows that taking a Creatine supplement increases muscle building and improves the body’s response to resistance training. Kre-Alkalyn® sounds like it should be a brand name but in fact there are several versions of this supplement from different manufacturers.
The third brand name in Kat-a-lyst Vasocor is GlycoCarn.® This contains a form of amino acid Carnitine ( glycine propionyl-L-carnitine hcl, usually abbreviated to GPLC), a form of carnitine that includes an additional glycine component. Compared with other forms of carnitine, such as CarnoSyn, GlycoCarn works as a nitric oxide booster. Nitric oxide is a molecule produced by the body to help its cells communicate with each other, by transmitting signals throughout the entire body. It is important for heart and exercise performance because it widens veins, increasing blood flow and oxygen. These days’ nitric oxide supplements are popular with athletes who use them to go the extra mile.
Although the three branded supplements in Kat-a-lyst Vasocor look good, it is important to remember that these are available elsewhere and that the quantities contained in this supplement are unknown. In addition, the quantities of the many other ingredients are unknown.
Kat-a-lyst Vasocor is produced by a company called Kat-a-lyst Nutraceuticals. There is practically zero information about this company and even the official company website gives nothing away such as the company’s location. This type of secrecy always makes us nervous because it can denote the company has something to hide. However, the product information states that Kat-a-lyst supplements are manufactured in the USA, so they should conform to GMP (good manufacturing practice) although this fact is not actually stated.
Kat-a-lyst seems to be exclusively on sale from Nutrishop a franchise supplements store operating across the USA. The stores sell many supplements brands and it is possible that Nutrishop may also be the company behind the manufacture of Kat-a-lyst although this is not stated.
The Kat-a-lyst brand is all about training and body building. We covered Adicor in a previous review but considered it was potentially dangerous to health.
We also covered Kat-a-lyst Glucator, a post workout supplement, in a previous review.
There is very little information about this supplement. As well as the incomplete ingredients profile, there is very little product information to help the customer. Behind the picture of a pumped up male body lifting weights, you are not told just how this supplement will help you or the sort of effects you can expect.
Most of the product information is written on the tub containing the powder where it is described as a “multi phase pre workout technology”, “engineered for extreme training intensity” and causing “intense energy levels”.
The product information also states that Kat-a-lyst Vasocor is “An advanced multi-phase formula that includes CarnoSyn®, Kre-Alkalyn® and GlycoCarn®.”
In our opinion, a few advertising slogans printed on a container is not good enough for customers.
Who knows! It is impossible to be able tell whether Kat-a-lyst Vasocor will work or not. This supplement contains loads of ingredients, including three branded supplements but without any information regarding quantities it is hard to evaluate just what this supplement will do.
In addition, an absence of customer feedback means that we cannot read about experiences of real life consumers.
Serving size is equal to 1 x 15g scoop. Most of the ingredients come under a proprietary blend, named as phase 1 to phase 5, and quantities are unknown.
