Below we take an in-depth look into Controlled Labs PROmore, to see how this intriguing combination of six different types of milk protein shapes up under examination.
Controlled Labs PROmore is a protein powder that comes in a variety of interesting flavours, including Snicker Doodle Cookie, Frosted Cinnamon Bun, and Orange Cream Pop. Each serving contains six slightly different forms of protein, with the idea being that customers receive doses that provide both long-lasting and more high-intensity support.
Protein powders are unlikely to cause side effects in the vast majority of cases, unless customers make the unwise decision to overuse them. When overused, whey-based protein powders can cause bloating, increased bowel movements, fatigue, reduced appetite, and nausea.
Controlled Labs PROmore appears to be one of the pricier protein powder options out there, especially when buying from the official Controlled Labs website. The cheapest price we were able to find for a 4lb tub of PROmore (containing 55 servings) was $41.95 on www.illpumpyouup.com. The same tub costs $46.99 on All Star Health, and $48.99 on www.bodybuilding.com. Customers can also opt for a small tub containing just 3 servings, although these aren’t great value for money (expect to pay between $7-$8 for this at www.bodybuilding.com and at A1 Supplements). On the official Controlled Labs website, prices are often ridiculous; the 55-serving tub costs $101.99 here and the 3-serving tub costs an absurd $18.99.
Controlled Labs PROmore appears to be an exceptionally popular and well-reviewed protein powder, and we weren’t actually able to find a single negative comment posted about it online. Praise is often directed to the powder’s excellent, unusual flavours, mixability, and creaminess.
Unfortunately, this product is also rather expensive, sometimes fetching up to $19 for just 3 servings on the official Controlled Labs website. Customers looking to take advantage of the company’s seemingly-generous 105% money back guarantee must buy directly from the company in order to qualify for it, meaning that these high prices surely act as a deterrent. Even from other outlets, a month’s supply of PROmore can costs between $40-$50, making this one of the pricier protein powder options out there.
Controlled Labs also fail to disclose the ingredient quantities on the label, meaning that the interesting premise of having six different forms of protein in the powder is somewhat weaker – how can customers be assured that the formula is balanced properly?
Overall, this appears to be a really good protein powder option for someone looking for a special, sweet treat. Although the taste and mixability is good, we still feel that the formula offers relatively less protein for relatively more calories and carbohydrates, and all for a particularly high price. This is hardly a great “everyday” protein but may still be nice for special occasions.
Despite some good features, we do not recommend Controlled Labs PROmore to our readers.
Controlled Labs PROmore is a protein powder supplement that combines six different forms of protein in one serving (including whey protein concentrate, whey protein isolate, micellar casein, and others). Although expensive, PROmore is known for its unusual flavours and mixability, making it a useful “treat” protein powder for those looking for something a little bit different.
This product is produced and sold by Controlled Labs, a supplement manufacturer from the USA that has been operating since around 2005. Controlled Labs appear to specialise in bodybuilding/workout aids; the group produces a range of pre-workouts, casein supplements and protein powders, and also offers regular advice to bodybuilders via its Train Insane video series and “Stacking Info” pages. The company can be contacted by email ([email protected]) or by telephone (800 692-4558).
The directions for use are as follows:
Mix 1 scoop of powder with 5-10 ounces of cold water or milk. Smaller amounts of liquid will make a thicker, creamier shake. Larger amounts of liquid will make a thinner shake. Take up to 3 shakes per day to increase your protein consumption for weight training or sports. For best results, PROmore should be used in combination with other Controlled Labs products, at least 64 ounces of water per day and a high protein/moderate carbohydrate diet.
As with any protein powder, PROmore promises to provide a good source of protein to optimise the gains seen during workout/training periods. The manufacturer assures the customers that PROmore contains “the highest quality protein”, and comes with a taste that is similar to any other feast.
One interesting point about this protein powder in particular is that it uses a blend of 6 different forms of protein, all of which reportedly vary in absorption time. Put simply, this means that the muscles are theoretically given a protein dose that is long-lasting and potent.
Protein powders are nothing if not straightforward, and PROmore is no exception. Research has repeatedly demonstrated that increasing your protein intake dramatically will help to stimulate muscle growth after workouts. The real question is whether this product is more effective than others out there.
Unfortunately, Controlled Labs fail to provide a detailed breakdown of how this product is set up. Although we know that each dose contains 23g of protein, it’s impossible to know how the 6 different protein sources used in the formula are balanced. Because of this, we cannot say whether this product is more appropriate for those looking for a longer-lasting dose of protein or a more immediate “spike”, although it should certainly help athletes/bodybuilders to build muscle in general.
For the record, there are definitely other protein powders out there that have higher doses of protein with lower doses than the 7g of carbohydrates and 125 calories used in this formula. However, few others enjoy such rave reviews, with virtually all customer reviews praising PROmore for its enjoyable taste.
The ingredients found in Controlled Labs PROmore are listed below. Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not provide exact ingredient quantities for every ingredient, which can make it difficult or impossible for customers to estimate how effective the overall mix is. The ingredient quantities that are listed are correct for 1 scoop (33g) of PROmore powder.
Protein shakes in general shouldn’t come with too many side effects. Overuse of whey protein shakes can sometimes cause increased bowel movements, thirst, bloating, nausea, cramps, reduced appetite, fatigue, and headaches. Those suffering with kidney issues or require prescription medication should check with their doctor before trying out protein shakes, as the increased protein intake could cause issues.

All of the customer reviews we could find discussing Controlled Labs PROmore were extremely satisfied with their purchase. Praise was often directed to the interesting taste of the powder, as well as its mixability and creaminess.
This is the best tasting protein I’ve ever had! I’ve tried a lot, but I have not found one that tastes as pure as this one. Controlled labs really hit the ball out of the park with this flavor. Cook 80 grams or a cup of old fashioned oats. Add 28 grams of unsalted nuts and 2 scoops of promore frosted cinnamon bun after its cooked. It’s also good if you add 14 grams of unrefined coconut oil to it to give it a hint of coconut and make it really smooth! You’ll thank me later! It’s definitely a staple in my diet now that I meal prep, and I will definitely be buying more!
Good protein to calories ratio, 23g for 125 calories per serving. It’s a blend of proteins offering some that’ll absorb quickly, and some that will absorb slower. Used the sample packet I got for pancakes, and they were absolutely amazing. Like an iced cinnamon pancake, made for a great late night snack because of the protein blend. I’d definitely recommend it.
The frosted cinnamon bun tastes exactly like a cinnamon bun, which is very tasty and delicious. I can’t believe this protein has only 1g of sugar and tastes great. The orange cream pop doesn’t taste like the orange cream popsicle that I’m used to, but it is still good and manageable to drink. There are some clumps but if you stir long enough, they will dissolve. I’m satisfied with this protein powder and I’d buy more.
Solid Protein powder. A few more carbs and a bit less protein than most products, but still gets the job done no doubt. All of the flavors taste good, but Orange Cream Pop is the only one that really “WOWED” me. All of them mix well, have a good texture, and drink easy. Would definitely recommend! The orange cream pop tastes just like a creamsicle!
Mixability 10/10: I used about 9-10 oz of milk with 1 full scoop of the protein and shook it for about a minute in my blender bottle. Had no problems whatsoever with clumping… Not gonna lie though, I did have to wait a couple mins for the bubbles/foaming to go down because it had a lot after blending it. Not a big deal for me though. Consistency 10/10: Was spot on, not very thick or very thin, just right. Tasted kinda like the icing on the doughy part of a cinnamon roll to me. Had a great texture all around… This would be my go-to protein for now 🙂
Controlled Labs offer a 30-day money back guarantee backed by an unusual 105% offer (where the company pledges to refund all monies plus an extra 5% if customers are dissatisfied. This offer only applies to customers buying products from the Controlled Lab webstore. In the company’s own words:
“If dissatisfied, simply send the remaining pills/powder (should have corresponding number of days left to get a full refund), bottle and your address (receipt) back to us within 30 days of purchase and we will credit your credit card for your purchase price plus 5%. Please allow 2-3 weeks for credit to arrive. This guarantee only applies if you purchase the product directly through our company and not through one of our resellers (sale items, including broken capsules sales, do not apply).”
Controlled Labs PROmore is available to buy from a number of online retailers, including the official Controlled Labs website, www.bodybuilding.com, Ill Pump You Up, A1 Supplements, Jet, All Star Health, Dolphin Fitness, and more.
A 4lb tub of PROmore (containing 55 servings) is the best option for many, costing between $47 and $50 in most online stores. The cheapest price we found appears to be $41.95 on www.illpumpyouup.com, with the highest price being a slightly-unreasonable $101.99 on the official Controlled Labs webstore. Customers also have the option of buying a much smaller tub containing just 3 servings of PROmore; this small tub costs $6.99 on www.bodybuilding.com, and $7.99 on the A1 Supplements webstore. Once again, the Controlled Labs website hugely overcharges customers thinking of going for this option, pricing 3 servings of PROmore at $18.99.
