What You Need To Know About Cellucor C4

There are several different amino acids in the Cellucor C4 formula; amino acids are the building blocks of protein, and so supplementing amino acids when undertaking muscle-building exercise can help to maximise the increase in muscle mass. Beta alanine may also improve athletic performance. Arginine is useful for wound healing (which makes it also important for recovery after exercise) and circulation, which is also useful for those who exercise regularly. Tyrosine can increase alertness, and could potentially reduce appetite, but there is no strong clinical support for this.

Caffeine is known to increase the metabolism slightly for a few hours after consumption, burning more calories. TeaCor, Tetramethyluric Acid, also known as theacrine, appears to have similar traits to caffeine, but there is not much clinical support.

Mucuna pruriens contains an active ingredient that theoretically should increase dopamine levels in the brain, but studies suggest that it needs to be combined with other ingredients to be effective. Lower levels of dopamine in the brain have been associated with binge eating and a lack of motivation (amongst many other traits), and so low dopamine levels could theoretically seriously hinder weight loss attempts.

Cellucor C4 appears to be a fairly good pre-workout supplement for consumers who are looking to maximise their muscle gains. However, it does not appear to be a strong weight loss aid, and will not benefit anyone who is not under-taking serious and regimented muscle building exercises.

What Are The Side Effects Of Cellucor C4?

There are several ingredients used in Cellucor C4 that could cause side effects. For a full list, please see the Side Effects tab below.

How Much Does Cellucor C4 Cost?

From the official Cellucor website a tub containing 30 servings costs $39.99 plus delivery charges. A tub containing 60 servings costs $59.99 plus delivery charges.

Our Verdict On Cellucor C4

The taste is often the most highly commended aspect of this supplement. There is a huge list of restrictions on who should not take this supplement. The product is not the cheapest product we have ever seen, but is still far from the most expensive. It is also covered by a good money back guarantee when ordered direct from the manufacturers.

Overall, Cellucor C4 could be a good option as a pre-workout supplement, but we do not recommend it as a weight loss aid.

Cellucor C4 Review

Cellucor C4 is a pre-workout supplement that promises explosive energy and extraordinary workouts. It comes in powder form, and should be taken shortly before exercise. Whilst some of the ingredients are stimulants that will increase energy and the consumer’s metabolism, most of the ingredients are amino acids that will help to build muscle mass when undertaking muscle building exercises.

DO NOT EXCEED RECOMMENDED DAILY INTAKE. USE ONLY AS DIRECTED. Take one serving (1 scoop) Cellucor C4, mixed with 4-6 fl. oz. of water 20-30 minutes before training. Once tolerance has been assessed and you are looking for an additional boost of energy, take one additional serving (1 scoop) with serving taken before training. DO NOT EXCEED 2 SCOOPS PER DAY. During your workout, it is recommended that you drink plenty of water or performance beverage such as Cellucor Alpha Amino to stay hydrated. What Does Cellucor C4 Claim To Do?

Cellucor, the manufacturers of Cellucor C4, have provided the following descriptions of their product’s benefits.

C4 was the blast heard around the world when it launched in 2011. It’s helped gym junkies, weekend warriors, and competitive athletes everywhere rise to become their own versions of legendary.

The Fourth Generation C4 is the next level of innovation and refinement. Its formula is now more dialed in, more potent, and includes the breakthrough ingredient, TeaCor™ for improved energy that comes on quickly and lasts longer.

The C4 formula includes ingredients that help promote energy, pumps and performance.

Does Cellucor C4 Work?

As a pre-workout supplement, Cellucor C4 appears to be useful, especially in increasing potential muscle growth. The product does not appear to directly increase the consumer’s rate of weight loss or fat loss, but increasing muscle mass naturally increases the consumer’s metabolic rate, and so this would indirectly increase weight loss and promote a leaner physique.

Some of the ingredients could increase energy levels slightly, but this is not the strongest aspect of this supplement. Consumers have reported increased energy levels, increased reps and strength over prolonged use. The most praised aspect of the product is the taste; there is a huge range of flavours, and consumers generally find the taste better than many other pre-workout aids.

What Are The Ingredients of Cellucor C4?

A scoop is provided, and one scoopful is the right size for a single serving. The product contains a proprietary formula, and so not all of the individual ingredient quantities are listed.

    • N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine: Some people use L-Tyrosine as an appetite suppressant, but there is little clinical evidence that it is effective for this use. Large doses of tyrosine may be useful for increasing alertness, especially in people who are sleep deprived.
      Source: http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-supplements/TYROSINE
    • Caffeine Anhydrous (150 mg): Numerous studies have shown that caffeine boosts energy levels and alertness, as well as mildly boosting the metabolism. The effects shown in studies are small, and some studies are inconclusive.

    • Velvet Bean (Mucuna Pruriens) seed extract (standardised for L-Dopa): A bean like plant that has traditionally been used in Ayurvedic medicine. It is used for treating anxiety, amongst other things. However, there is little clinical evidence to support its use: the active ingredient is levodopa (l-dopa), which can affect the levels of dopamine in the brain. However, most L-dopa is broken down in the body before it can reach the brain, unless combined with specific chemicals that are not present in Mucuna Pruriens.

    • TeaCor Tetramethyluric Acid: More commonly known as theacrine. It is similar in structure to caffeine, and appears to act as a mild stimulant. There has been very little clinical research into this compound.

Are There Any Customer Reviews For Cellucor C4?

There are literally thousands of customer reviews for Cellucor C4 on the official website and on other third party retailers’ sales pages:

I have been lifting for a few years and have tried all preworkout drinks under the sun usually changing to a new one when I hit the bottom of the tub. That was over a year ago, my favourite flavor is green apple, but since I’ve tried them all you can’t go bad. Some drinks you build up a tolerance for, not this kind. Love it. All flavors are great, but great focus and energy. Get it!

Mixability 9/10: Great mixabilty, started off mixing C4 with 8 oz of water in a magic bullet. I let the magic bullet go for 10 seconds with 2 ice cubes in it and the C4 was completely dissolved within the liquid. Awesome no floaties that’s what were looking for.
Taste 8.5/10: in 8oz water, Strawberry Margarita really tasted like a watered down Strawberry Margarita. Hit the nail on the head with this flavor profile, I’ve never seen anything like this before and it will keep customers coming back for more.
Energy and Focus 8/10: I always drink my pre-workout about 20 minutes before the gym. Shortly after drinking C4 I felt an energy surge and it sustained throughout the entire workout. This was excellent because I usually wake up at 4:15am for my morning workout. I did notice that 1 scoop didn’t wake me up enough so i started experimenting with 1 1/2 scoop and also 2 scoops per serving. This was more ideal for me, I felt like I had more energy at the beginning at end of the workout.
Strength 8/10: Hit some PR’s while on this pre-workout. Felt a great pump throughout the workout and my focus was spot on.
Overall 8.5/10: Overall, this is a great product that provided great focus and a great pump throughout my entire workout. Depending on your weight you might have to adjust your dosage from 1 scoop to 1 1/2-2 scoops to feel more of the effects. At the end of my workout it felt as though I was going to tear through my clothes, the pump was that insane. I felt the pump throughout the day and yes the caffeine was much needed to wake my butt up for my morning workouts. I would definitely recommend this new formula to everyone looking for a serious pre-workout supplement to help them maintain a great pump and focus throughout there workout.

Flavor isn’t bad, but does nothing for me.

This preworkout was overall not the worst but not my favorite as well. I did feel more focused and energized but I will not purchase this again because this preworkout made me extremely itchy. It did go away once I started to workout. The taste was not bad, it was easily tolerable, considering most preworkouts taste like vomit. The texture was gritty near the bottom of my drink but that doesn’t bother me the slightest. An overall good product.
