Low testosterone levels can cause a range of issues for men, from a lowered sex drive to increased difficulty building up muscle mass. Some studies even suggest that a lack of free testosterone can cause low moods or depression. There are lots of ways to remedy the problem of low testosterone, from taking up strength training to eating a healthier diet. There are also more than a few supplements out there that promise to raise testosterone levels, although many of these are either ineffective or cause a host of unpleasant side effects.

Below we take an in-depth look at Alpha Pro Nutrition Gr8test, to see what benefits it offers consumers.

What You Need To Know About Alpha Pro Nutrition Gr8test

Alpha Pro Nutrition Gr8test is advertised as a testosterone boosting supplement that will also boost Nitric Oxide levels, making it suitable for use as a pre-workout supplement for increased pumps. The product is free of stimulants such as caffeine, and the directions for use indicate that consumers can even take it before bed.

The supplement comes in Strawberry-Kiwi flavour and contains 45 servings per tub.

What Are The Side Effects Of Alpha Pro Nutrition Gr8test?

There are numerous ingredients used in Alpha Pro Nutrition Gr8test that could cause a range of side effects. Individual ingredient quantities are not provided, and so it is difficult to establish the likelihood of any particular side effects occurring.

One of the main (traditional) uses for Chaste Tree was to reduce sexual desire and the consumer’s sex drive. Depending upon the individual, this could be quite a frustrating side effect.

Agmatine Sulfate could cause gastrointestinal disturbances, including diarrhoea, nausea, and vomiting. Arginine supplementation can cause some side effects such as abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhoea, gout, blood abnormalities, allergies, airway inflammation, worsening of asthma, and low blood pressure.

Citrulline Malate can cause an upset stomach in some people, but this is less likely if taken on an empty stomach.

Nettle is a diuretic and so will increase urination. It could also cause dehydration if the consumer does not drink enough water. Maca appears to cause dehydration, and so should be taken with water. It may increase oestrogen levels, and in post-menopausal women can cause hot flushes.

High doses of Longjack can cause insomnia and increased body temperature, along with restlessness and irritability.

How Much Does Alpha Pro Nutrition Gr8test Cost?

Currently, Alpha Pro Nutrition Supplements can be purchased either through the official website’s webstore, or through Amazon, but the manufacturer’s official website states that their products are going to be stocked in GNC stores “soon”.

A single tub costs $44.99 when purchased from the official Alpha Pro Nutrition website. Delivery within the USA is free.

On Amazon, a single tub of the supplement costs $36.99. Shipping charges may apply, but customers with an Amazon Prime account can get free shipping.

Each tub contains 45 servings, which will provide a 45 day supply.

Our Verdict On Alpha Pro Nutrition Gr8test

We are not hugely impressed by Alpha Pro Nutrition Gr8test. It does seem to work as a Nitric Oxide boosting supplement, but it is nothing special compared with the many similar products available on the market. The product also contains at least one diuretic ingredient.

As for the potential for this product to boost testosterone levels – we are far from impressed. Some of the ingredients touted as testosterone boosters have no clinical support for these claims (and the available clinical evidence directly counters these claims, as they appear to be ineffective). Some of the ingredients are even worse; Chaste Tree is named that because historically it was regarded as a libido-suppressor, used by monks to reduce the distraction of a sex drive. It definitely has no place in a testosterone boosting supplement.

The product is seemingly not covered by a money-back guarantee, and Alpha Pro Nutrition fails to detail what their returns policy is at all on their website. The cost per serving of this product is pretty reasonable, but if you are choosing this supplement primarily for a testosterone boost, then you are likely to be disappointed with both the results and the cost.

Overall, we do not recommend Alpha Pro Nutrition Gr8test to our readers.

What Does Alpha Pro Nutrition Gr8test Claim To Do?

The manufacturers describe Alpha Pro Nutrition Gr8test as “The Ultimate Test Booster / Nitric Oxide Stimulator / Anti Estrogen” supplement.

They also state:

GR8TEST is a new, state of the art testosterone booster that is much more – it’s actually three products in one: a testosterone booster, estrogen blocker and nitric oxide enhancer! This is a product that was created to be exclusive, powerful and effective. Alpha Pro uses only superior ingredients and effective, research proven dosages – you will not find a product with the “Alpha Pro” name on it that skimps on dosing or ingredient quality.

GR8TEST’s added advantages over regular testosterone boosters is the anti-aromatase formula that blocks conversion of testosterone to estrogen plus a potent Nitric Oxide enhancer that increases blood flow to working muscles delivering fresh new testosterone filled blood for the ultimate muscle-building pump!

Does Alpha Pro Nutrition Gr8test Work?

Arginine is thought to increase Nitric Oxide production in the body, which in turn increases blood flow by causing vasodilation in blood vessels. However, Arginine is absorbed very poorly by the body, and studies are incredibly mixed as to whether Arginine supplementation actually works or not. AAKG has improved absorption compared with L-Arginine.

Citrulline is converted into Arginine in the kidneys, and has a much better absorption rate than Arginine- to the point where Citrulline is able to increase levels of plasma arginine more effective than arginine itself.

Theoretically, Alpha Pro Nutrition Gr8test supplementation could help to increase blood plasma levels of Arginine which could in turn help to increase blood flow due to higher Nitric Oxide production in the body.

The inclusion of Chaste Tree in this supplement is bemusing, especially as there is no evidence that it increases testosterone levels in humans, and its main side effect is that it lowers libido.

Overall, this product could offer some benefits in the gym (but there are many other products available with the same beneficial ingredients), but it is unlikely to support or boost testosterone levels.

What Are The Ingredients of Alpha Pro Nutrition Gr8test?

The ingredients found in Alpha Pro Nutrition Gr8test are detailed below. Not all of the individual ingredient quantities are provided, as the product contains several proprietary formulas. Ingredient quantities that are listed are per serving of one scoop (9.4 grams).

  • Vitamin D (as cholecalciferol) 400 IU (100% RDA)
  • Vitamin B6 (as Pyridoxine Hydrochloride) 10 mg (500% RDA)
  • Magnesium (as Magnesium Aspartate) 360 mg (90% RDA)
  • D-Aspartic Acid 3500 mg: This amino acid that has been proven to raise testosterone and Luteinizing Hormone (LH) levels in men who have low testosterone levels. LH is used by the body to produce more testosterone. This form of DAA appears to have a low bioavailability, and could cause a stomach ache. Source

Estroblock Matrix 210 mg

  • Maca Root: This Peruvian plant has been used for numerous ailments, including infertility, and to boost the sex drive. No clinical evidence has been presented to support any use. Source
  • Chrysin Extract: A naturally occurring flavonoid, Chrysin is used for bodybuilding and treating anxiety, amongst other uses. Some claim that it increases testosterone, but this only seems to be the case when it is injected directly into the testicles. Source
  • 3,3′-Diindolymethane (DIM): Commonly found in broccoli. Although research is still in the preliminary stages, it appears to be promising for having anti-cancer effects. It has potent effects upon estrogen metabolism, preventing the conversion of testosterone into estrogen, and converting potent estrogen into less potent forms of estrogen. However, high doses can increase estrogen synthesis. Source

Gr8test Testosterone Formula 1250 mg

  • L-Carnitine L-Tartrate: One study found that supplementation of L-carnitine L-tartrate reduced muscle tissue damage from exercise and sped up recovery time. Compared to other forms of l-carnitine, it is more commonly used to boost muscular performance rather than contribute to weight loss. Source
  • Nettle Root (Urtica Dioica): These leaves act as a diuretic, meaning that they encourage the body to urinate more often. Source
  • Chaste Tree Fruit Extract (Vitex Agnus Extract): A study in rats suggests that it could lower testosterone levels and LH levels, and in the only study in human males supplementing Chaste Tree had absolutely no effect upon testosterone levels. It appears to offer no value for this supplement. Chaste Tree is also known as ‘the woman’s herb’, and is used by some women to reduce the symptoms of PMS, as well as to improve menstrual cycle irregularities. It is also used to treat acne, upset stomach, headaches, and swelling, although in general, it is under-researched. Chaste Tree also appears to lower the sex drive, reportedly being used by monks to help them keep their vows of celibacy; this is the reason the shrub is called the Chaste Tree. Source
  • Longjack Root Extract (Eurycoma Longifolia): Longjack is well renowned for treating erectile dysfunction and increasing libido and virility. May also decrease anxiety, and has also shown to increase power output in training trial participants in preliminary studies. Evidence that it increases testosterone levels is minimal. Source

NO Accelerator Complex 1000 mg

  • Agmatine Sulfate (AgmaMAX): Agmatine Sulfate is thought by some to act as a useful form of pain relief, although most sports supplement manufacturers promote it as a way to improve performance and aid exercise recovery. Source
  • Citrulline Malate: L-Citrulline is thought to increase L-Arginine levels in the body, which in turn widens the blood vessels and increases blood flow to the muscles. Source
  • Arginine AKG: Short for Arginine Alpha-Ketoglutarate, this is another form of Arginine (see below). Alpha-Ketoglutarate salt is intended to increase intestinal uptake. Source
  • L-Arginine: This essential amino acid is plentiful in foods and can be made by the body. Important for wound healing and circulation, L-Arginine is thought to boost the levels of Nitric Oxide in the body. However, supplementing L-Arginine has a very limited effect as it has poor absorption. Source

If you have high or low blood pressure, consult your doctor before purchase, as Arginine and Citrulline supplementation may affect blood pressure. If you are unsure about the suitability of this supplement for you, consult your doctor before purchase. Drink plenty of water whilst taking this supplement, especially if taking it before a workout, where water loss through sweating is already a factor in dehydration.

Combined with pre-workout upload the supplement works great, great pump and drive, even at 58 years old I can see and feel the difference, thanks.

Had this 3 days, 3 work outs. A total flop! Like a non event. Just a little flavoring in my water. Very disappointed. All the write ups, I was expecting SOMETHING. Just flavor. Expensive flavor! Bk to Assault pre workout!!

Two stars. Did not work for me after a month.

Does Alpha Pro Nutrition Gr8test Offer a Money-Back Guarantee?
